It took me a minute but I think I beat this puzzle. What's the next game we play?Puddle Jumper said:It's like one o those: "Find the ten differences" puzzles ...
I agree that they're good at classifying games and all, but I find it annoying sometimes when they pull stuff like that. I suppose it's for the better, but I dunno, sometimes things like that get to me, regardless of how infinitesimal the difference actually is (as is the case with this box art). Regardless of what they change, this is the stuff that sits out in the open for all to gaze at, so at least that's understandable.Zer_ said:ESRB makes some stupid calls at times, but you can't fault them entirely. The ESRB is doing a great job at rating games. It's a very solid model on how rating systems should be done.buy teh haloz said:They don't call it the Ever So Retarded Board for nothing.
Australians would kill to have the ESRB in their country.
Not to say that they can't improve, but there's ALWAYS room for improvement.
whoa someone need to read up on their american history.punkrocker27 said:Didn't know the folks who penned the Constitution were Puritan, thanks for that little bit of enlightenment.DTWolfwood said:hah puritan sensibilities strikes again. Man America will never live down its roots, shame.
Meanwhile there's the constant censorship that goes down in Germany, the U.K.'s no-visitor list, not unlike Australia's list of banned websites, and in China you can't even say the word dissent without the police coming down on you so fast your head will spin. Yet, this is what's considered outrageous and newsworthy. Oh noes, now I have to actually buy some crappy game turn it's case over to see the pixelated boobies...
I just checked the one DoA game I have (2: HARDCORE) and it's rated T as well. As far as I know, so is the rest of the series.Sniper Team 4 said:I just realized something more shocking. This game is rated 'T' for Teen.
WHAT?!
They were the founders of one colony in particular. When people say things akin to "Puritan Roots" or the even more popular catchphrase "Puritan Sensibilities" they are referring to the widespread conservative stance in America on the issues of sex and family life, one that I wholeheartedly disagree with. Let's just try not to make it any more misplaced a term than it already is shall we?Frylock72 said:It's not specifically that the founding fathers were Puritan, but the ones who fled England's religious persecution were Puritan, and they were the founders of the original thirteen colonies. That's what people mean when they say America has 'Puritan roots'.
You seem to think the Puritans were the sole settlers of the New World. Read up on your history a little and see just how widespread their actual influence was.DTWolfwood said:I guess the founding fathers just magically sprang out of the ground here in the United States and weren't descendants from religiously closed minded and sexually repressed people whom were exiled from England.
It's more than just sensitivity to violence, most of it is politically motivated. For example you can't air an episode of the Simpson's in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland where the evil nuclear powered plant melts down. Yet if a dam breaks and floods the town...Who cares what they're censoring, it's still censorship.Europe is against violence, having spent the last 2+ millennium in a state of almost constant war, (not counting the few dozen year here and there where they weren't killing eachother) i can see y. But they aren't as petty as to censor a bit of thigh flesh.
Gee if only everyone were as cold and detached as you.China, well thats a totalitarian state. they can do whatever the hell they want to their ppl. Their citizens have no say in the matter.
Won't argue with that. I'm an all-or-nothing kind of person and when it comes to censorship I'd rather nothing gets censored. Especially when there are people dying right now in literally untold numbers, and people's attitudes mostly mirror your own.edit: should have also mention our long standing culture of outdated victorian era sexual repressiveness.
Not sure where this came from. The reason I named other instances of censorship was to draw attention to my point that this is such a ludicrous thing to take offense to considering what else goes on out there in America and abroad. Don't even get me started on the way certain people have abused sex ed for their own agendas. Still though, who cares, right?edit 2: wtf does having puritan sensibilities have to do with the rest of the worlds geopolitical mindset D:<

I'm sure most parents won't let their kids get the damn gamne anyway, it's going to be an M.Diamondback One said:Underneath all our skin are muscles, and below that are organs! As for the ESRB though: They're just trying to find ways to prove to parents they're doing their job or something now, but in actuality I'm sure they could care less.
They are paid to care, it doesnt mean they actually do.Diamondback One said:As for the ESRB though: They're just trying to find ways to prove to parents they're doing their job or something now, but in actuality I'm sure they could care less.
i guess the the fact the dutch french and spaniards all at some point owned a piece of america and that we don't speak dutch, french or spanish means i'm assuming wrong that England and english settlers were the predominate driving force in Americas beginning, ie their roots. who were among the first english settlers again?punkrocker27 said:You seem to think the Puritans were the sole settlers of the New World. so i take it the ESRB getting all in a fit about thigh flesh isn't politically motivated or based on their constituents being overly sensitive to sex? which i believe was what i meant when i first said. It's more than just sensitivity to violence, most of it is politically motivated. there is a reason y my grandparents got the hell out of china the first chance they got, and why my parents and I moved to America <.< China is no place to live if you are a chinese citizen and isn't upper middle class.Gee if only everyone were as cold and detached as you.

how america acts at home has nothing to do with or related to what the rest of the world thinks and do on their lands. America = sexually repressive, hence retarded change from said article. Still not sure how you took my initial comment as anything but agreeing on how ridiculous this country is to censorship.punkrocker27 said:Didn't know the folks who penned the Constitution were Puritan, thanks for that little bit of enlightenment.DTWolfwood said:hah puritan sensibilities strikes again.
