And its not getting bought because its $60 on PC. Hopefully horrible sales will make EA change its mind on the pricing.

To be honest this feels more like a marketing stunt than a way to broaden the experience, although BioWare haven't touted it, its te ESRBs job to find these things, it may be tastefully done and fit well with the story and character.

I will play the game and find out. Incidentally I never went through with any of the romance options in either of my DA:O playthroughs as it didnt fit with my character so we will see

EDIT: (also Spoilers) Actually I did sleep with Morrigan in my second playthrough but it was on the eve of the last battle and more of a business arrangement than a seduction.

I've never really understood the appeal of sex scenes in videogames but somebody must like them because BioWare [http://www.bioware.com] keeps doing them, over and over and over again. Which leads me to wonder: why is it always about sex with you, anyway?
Because Freud said so!
Could go further and talk about men thrusting swords into quivering flesh/gaping wounds...

(Hey, I'm talking about all the fighting. It's your mind thinking it's something else :p)

Because Bioware then gets a free article on the Escapist and gets the name of the game out there. Straight sex used to be enough but not anymore.

Yeah, im not jaded at all.

I hope it's not pointless this time around.

"Oh boy, I can plow the crazy witch, goodie goodie preist, the killer elf dude, trannies and whores... but why?"

Sex is fine if it adds to the story, but it didn't do anything at all to the story.. all it did was change greetings at the campfire, and alter the ending a little. It didn't add anything to the story the first time around, it was just a statement saying "You can have SEX! Thats right, SEX! Not just regular sex, but gay sex with an elf twink and shemales! Aren't we edgey?".

It wasn't even implemented well at all; finding gifts to get their "love-o-meter" above a certain number for a hilariously animated sex cutscene and dialogue changes doesn't exactly feel engaging in the romance department if it's ment to be part of the story. It was more like a mini-game to almost see polygonal boobies. Whoop-de-shit!

"What F is involved in anal sex?"

Oh no... Harry Potter was forever ruined when his name came up hehe (I know it's not the same but my mind made the connection)

Controversy = increased sales. Seriously, I find fox news's diatribes against video games hilarious. They're just giving away free publicity. For awhile publishers were concerned about legislative response screwing them over, or offending the parents that they believed bought all the games. After the recent supreme court case, though, legislative banning is basically off the table barring a constitutional amendment, and there are more adult gamers than kids now. So, sex sells, and I guarantee you many people will hear of this game and buy it only because of the controversy.

uh... what is the other f-word?
English is not my native tongue, can someone help me out here? ;-)

About the sex, I could not care less. I thought it was not necessary in Dragon Age, but I did not mind it. You did not have to engage in it if you did not want to...
I don´t mind either way, but the "outcry" does irritate me.
Perhaps because it reminds me that there are in fact people who think sexuality is something dirty and forbidden. Perhaps the people at fox should just get laid. ;-)

If you must know, fisting. Watch Caligula for further details.
OP: I don't like seeing 3-d models have "sex". I'd rather it fade to black and be implied. It is the same thing, just less juvenile and....awkward.

Sex sells... kinda sex sells, kinda.

I guess the metrics they took from players will somehow back up the reoccurence of this.

This has to stop. I get it, its supposed to make it a mature, well-written story. But its just weird almost-people dry humping in their underwear. It doesn't help the story. Am I the only person that thinks is strange that somehow its a foregone conclusion that every party member in a Bioware game wants to hump the lead char, no matter how ugly you make him/her?

Go for broke, make a late-night cable TV type game with full-on T&A. Give up the pretense that its about the story and milk the controversy for all its worth. Or just cut it out. Either way.
