Sexually oppressed, yes. More than the Middle East, no. Go to the beach and see in which country there are more topless girls.

Dude I think you're exaggerating.
Sadly, if anything, it would be an understatement. There would also by an outcry from mothers everywhere, demanding that the government come up with a pill that can let things be unseen.

And a politician in Texas trying to make a law about women in video games.
we here in america would just like to say we don't consider texas as part of the u.s. (lol)

Well you can't have Ikki Tousen without boobies. There's no other point in it. No need to turn it into some kind of sexist debate, the manga/anime is just a fan-service franchise.

I can't help but laugh so hard from that as well it reminds me of the puppet Melvin from Jeff Dunham *cup cakes, and porn, but not at the same time. I like having a free hand*.

I wouldn't even grace the title with an "M" rating so much as a brain tumor inducing retarded rating.

nothing better to reel in the money than to appeal to horny teenagers...

I'm gonna go bleach my eyes now.

True enough. I watched a few episodes, and this was my thought process:

Ok, so we start off with this silly girl with massive boobs. Uh... she beat the crap out of someone.

Wow, her guard is WEAK.

She just beat up another person.

Earings are apparently very important?

Boobs? Ok...

Oh, some more female characters... with big boobs.

What's with all these panty shots?

Oh, that was cool! Nice fighting!

I get it already, big boobs are nice, can I have some plot?

Ok, what is this, DBZ with lots of women? People seem to get stronger as their clothes fly off is all...

This guard is just pitiful, can we have some power-upping already?

Ok, stop it with the panty shots. And the boobs.

HEY PLOT! Oh, some more fighting!

Granted, I wasn't putting an extreme amount of attention into it(I was only half-interested), but that's just what kept leaping into my mind as I watched. Perhaps I'll actually try to watch it seriously and review it... Though it'll take some doing.

Um...it got shot down for having an M-rating? Last time I checked, over half the successful games in the U.S. have an M-rating...

Honestly the industry needs to put more effort into fighting this kind of thing rather than just giving up. Even bare breasts are simply PG-13. By letting this kind of thing go, the industry is pretty much encouraging them to take censorship further and further.

If anything we should be seeing more violence and sexual content, not things regressing because of groups like the ESRB. Really, we've been here with "The Comics Code Convention", this is effectively the video game version getting moving.

Mature rating ? not even a 16+, well i guess nothing destroys the mind for a 16 to 17 year old boy as the image of seminude teenage girl.
THAT must be the rason for all those school shootings, young people getting glimpses of attractive females in videogames ,and their brain turned to goo, makes perfect sense...
Nothing to see here ,move along ,go back to your FPS and shoot people up as a normal teenager.

( slightly off topic, i heard that Sarah Palins daughter is going around and preaching that teen sex is bad, i guess you always have to try something out bofore you can tell if its bad or not ? I really hope that i dont have to hear her saying that killing nuns is bad in 2021 or something. )

That's what you don't want to do; I really don't think that show was ever meant to be taken seriously

This game sounds about as fun and memorable as Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad.

It really is lowest common denominator developing, I have to say. I'm unsure of how much work they've put into this game, but I'd be prepared to bet money that they spent more time making sure the clothes shredded properly than actually making it a decent fighting game. It's like the whole jiggle physics thing in DoA games; you can tell they spent inordinate amounts of time and effort making something irrelevant, and, let's be honest, infantile, look good.

I realise that there are people out there who will buy and enjoy this game, but I really don't think people will miss out on much not playing it. For the record, I have no problem with sex and/or nudity in games, so long as it's used tastefully and in a context that makes sense (which is how I feel about it in all forms of media). But here, you can clearly see that it's just done as an attempt to rope in as much money as they can through the promise of digital boobs.
It's based on a manga/anime franchise, so they're really just appealing to the fans more than any lowest common denominator. Of course those fans could be considered that, I suppose.
This game is like a B-list movie. It has a chance of boobies and stupid boys will buy/see it.

Edit: I would like to ask the devs who made it if the game didn't have a strip tease is it a good game? No. Its like Dead or alive, terrible gameplay but the sexy girls distract you from it.

But that's kinda what Ikkitousen is; it's a series based entirely on fighting and fanservice. It would only make sence that a game based off it would contain both

When comparing to countries that kill you if you walk outside without a male sibling or are not completely covered in a garbage bag, US is a nest of liberals.
And yet, we're also one of the most culturally backwards in some ways.

Edit:

I don't see why an 'M' rating would stop them from porting it over.
It certainly seems reasonable given the blatant sexuality of the game.
And I think the people responible for the localizing must not be, in fact, "local" because they should know if the age group of 'T' and lower wants an 'M' game, nothing, especially not their indifferent/ignorant parents, are going to stop them, and the dev's will make just the same amount of sales no matter the ESRB's say.

It's pretty apparent that a lot of parts of Japanese culture are simply not compatible with the US mainstream, but I certainly don't blame them for trying (and I'm disappointed they failed).

A little more culture never hurt anyone, but I think it's the wrong type of aspect to unveil upon the masses, especially when their target audience is under 18.

Yeah...you'd think they'd have put more thought into its release.
I'm surprised they were surprised when they got slapped with the "M" label, and I'm a little bewildered that they were so unfamiliar with how hostile American culture is to sex.

Edit:

You know, breasts are only made controversial because we make them taboo and act all secretive around them. if we stopped making a big deal of them and stopped caring, people would be less offended by them and in turn we would see less games like this.
Controversy only makes things more attractive to the audience.

I agree, if your going one way might as well go all the way.

On Topic: Really M is the best the ESRB could give it and they're stopping it for that? AO I could understand but M?
Oh well, the concept of the game sounds like banana spit so yeah...

No, girls seem too eager to reveal boobs nowadays, especially if you look at their clothing. To get some bum, that takes effort.
