Well you can't have Ikki Tousen without boobies. There's no other point in it. No need to turn it into some kind of sexist debate, the manga/anime is just a fan-service franchise.
True enough. I watched a few episodes, and this was my thought process:

Ok, so we start off with this silly girl with massive boobs. Uh... she beat the crap out of someone.

Wow, her guard is WEAK.

She just beat up another person.

Earings are apparently very important?

Boobs? Ok...

Oh, some more female characters... with big boobs.

What's with all these panty shots?

Oh, that was cool! Nice fighting!

I get it already, big boobs are nice, can I have some plot?

Ok, what is this, DBZ with lots of women? People seem to get stronger as their clothes fly off is all...

This guard is just pitiful, can we have some power-upping already?

Ok, stop it with the panty shots. And the boobs.

HEY PLOT! Oh, some more fighting!

Granted, I wasn't putting an extreme amount of attention into it(I was only half-interested), but that's just what kept leaping into my mind as I watched. Perhaps I'll actually try to watch it seriously and review it... Though it'll take some doing.
That's what you don't want to do; I really don't think that show was ever meant to be taken seriously
Well, I still want to review it. At least I might get a laugh or two from watching it, right?

Why you would want to have a fighting game feature naked females? Wouldn't it be hard to masturbate while mashing buttons on a controller?
But still very, very possible

Yeah, Ikki Tousen is just fanservice from the ground up, soo..
I remember that old topic about Anime where the only one the opening poster had been shown was Ikkitousen, they weren't impressed. I only watch Ikkitousen when my brain needs to die. I'm surprised this title was even considered for release in the US considering how much anime fans hate i-*suddenly remembers watching someone pay close to 200 bucks for a figure for a main character you can undress* Never mind I'm not surprised anymore.

I did a bit of investigating and this is a vid of the 'clothes ripping' gameplay:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYji5ALuPA0&feature=related
From what you see here it doesn't really look that deserving of an M but then again all I've done it watched a few minutes of gameplay on youtube >_>

Oh, of course. Just remember to turn the serious part of your brain off when you do it

I smell no hypocrisy here. DOA was just a fighter that used jiggle physics at first to make thing a bit more realistic while providing enivitable hardons. In the end, Team Ninja made the mistake as making that the series main selling point. The other game just looks like your typical anime game that barely anyone plays.

A generic fighting game that uses the the ability to 'undress' your opponents sounds fun, but won't sell well. Anime boobies, despite the amount of people (me) who care for that sort of thing, isn't the popular American interest. If we want nudity with bad gameplay we'll just play BMX XX.

Just import it. Who knows, maybe those sales can pull an Ouendan! and prove me wrong.

When you say "battle damage" I keep thinking about those Jurrasic Park action figures that came out in the 90s where the skin came off to show off the ribs. Or was that called "Dino Damage"?

all controversy aside, WTF is with developers still making games for PS2. I do know that it is a massive market, but still... Don't they realize that their audience wants this in HD? The emotion engine couldn't possibly handle real-time jiggle physics in a fast paced game like this without slowdown.

rate it "A" and be done with it, this is stupid and it interferes with the free market system. don't get the government throwing in monkey wrenches unless its dangerous or a building is going to go down via terrorist

I'm surprised they just didn't disable the "battle damage" code and ship the game. That's what they'd normally do, edit it terribly and release it.

Of course, the manga/anime it's based on really is like that but it will never make in on TV in the US anyway.

I honestly think that unless there is graphic depiction of sexual acts a game shouldn't be rated A for sexual content. MA is 17+ and most people in that age bracket have done more than is depicted in this game.

Damn, and I love the anime, too... thank you, good-ol' USA, for being more sexually screwed up than half the fucking planet. It gives the rest of the world yet another thing to mock us over.

Ah well, looks like it's up to the fans to translate it for us... the Mother 3 project for the older audiences, right?
