Remember, it's the US. The only western nation that is more sexually oppressed than the Middle East. Where I can blow up the world with blood and guts everywhere and show it on TV, but the instant someone sees a bare ass I have to either digitize it or cut it out of the movie.
When comparing to countries that kill you if you walk outside without a male sibling or are not completely covered in a garbage bag, US is a nest of liberals.
Agreed.
Cite one country where that happened. Cite means you have to point out an example, I think.
Yes that is what it means.

I will 'cite' Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan.
'Cite' an instance please, go and tell me where this happened, who, what, when, why.
You might have to look it up.
Well there was a 13 year old girl stoned in Somalia after acusing a soldier of rape.(from amnesty int(and all over the web)
And from our saudi buddies
A 19-year-old Saudi woman who was kidnapped, beaten and gang raped by seven men who then took photos of their victim and threatened to kill her, was sentenced under the country's Islamic-based law to 90 lashes for the "crime" of being alone with a man not related to her.

The woman is appealing to Saudi King Abdullah to intervene in the controversial case.

"I ask the king to consider me as one of his own daughters and have mercy on me and set me free from the 90 lashes," the woman said in an emotional interview published Monday in the Saudi Gazette.
Thats just the first search items that popped up.

Pretty sure I've played fighting games where guys aren't wearing a whole lot, and I'm sure that any girls playing the game would find their form pleasing. Is there really that much difference between looking at the bare chest of a man and a woman? OMFG BEWBS! are really not that big of a deal, especially if not accompanied by seedy innuendo...
Can somebody explain the blatant bias we have against the female form?
Really I don't care about the game, but it does bother me that western society is so....stupid.

You know, breasts are only made controversial because we make them taboo and act all secretive around them. if we stopped making a big deal of them and stopped caring, people would be less offended by them and in turn we would see less games like this.
Controversy only makes things more attractive to the audience.

Only one person really touched on this so far in the thread so I just wanted to make it clear.

The company behind this game was attempting to sell sex to children.

Seems pretty simple to me. ESRB won't let kids under 17 buy it? Then screw it, we're packing it in- forget the US market because no one else will buy this crap besides young kids who want to get a look at some boobies.

This really isn't an issue of censorship. Nothing was censored.

It's an issue of shitty game companies and their shitty business practices that have been holding back this entire industry since 2001.

If a game actually shows something 'naughty' i think the game loses a lot of class and it annoys me when women have little to no clothing because i imagine it just being very degrading

Why you would want to have a fighting game feature naked females? Wouldn't it be hard to masturbate while mashing buttons on a controller?
Some people can use their feet you know.

It really is lowest common denominator developing, I have to say.
It's based on a manga/anime franchise, so they're really just appealing to the fans more than any lowest common denominator. Of course those fans could be considered that, I suppose.
Hey-OHHH!!!
Badum-tish!!!!

Hey, keep the chain going, people! One rule: don't use a sound effect or catchphrase that's already been used in the chain.

Ever seen the anime? They're high school aged. Though I really don't see why you guys are so up in arms about this. As was stated before, Ikki Tousen is really just a smoldering tower of fanservice. It's like the people who made this thought of fanservice first, then thought of contrived ways to get to show panty shots and clothing malfunction using things like 'story'.

Also how can you say that that the game is bad? the only picture you and I have seen is the one for the news article and the models are pretty solid constructed. Also who knows what the gameplay is like, for all we know it could be like Bushido Blade or Power Stone a solid fun beat em up with anime characters without the gross imbalance of the Dragonball games.
Seconded. The quality of a game is undetermined until you play it for yourself.

I liked Tenkaichi 3 though: while it was unbalanced, it was still crazy fun. Not to mention if you were really good at it, you could take down Kid Buu with Yamcha (did this only once though :D).

Huh. What about God of War? Is it just because this game maybe would have sucked? Seems like a poor reason. Darkwatch had full nudity as well... And it was just a clever little Halo clone transplanted into the old west.

I've actually had a fair amount of exposure (word use intentional) to the Ikki Tousen series, and it really is just fanservice and martial arts. Still, I doubt the video game has half the "content" of the comics... Because I can't think of any video games that DO have as much mature content as the Ikki Tousen comics... Aside from the porno ones, of course.

But hey, I would expect the video game world would be all over any game that's nothing but fanservice and martial arts. At least Ikki Tousen knows exactly what it is and doesn't try to be anything else. Team Ninja has already put out quite a few games along these lines, so I don't see the problem here. One more fanservice fighter isn't going to cause the universe to implode.

Still, I suppose I've stepped into the debate a bit late, so I imagine all these points have been covered already.
