Final fuckin' Fantasy 13-3. Dear God, just typing the name makes me want to puke in disgust.

How did it come to this, Square Enix? With every desperate attempt to rejuvenate the bloated corpse of your once-proud franchise, my belief that you are truly either retarded or insane increases. It has reached the point where the series can no longer even bow out gracefully. The only hope of redemption now is to cast Final Fantasy into the furnace and erase it from living memory. I can only hope that Final Fantasy 13-3 will be the game to end this sad story once and for all, as unlikely as it may be.

PS. Hurry up and release Kingdom Hearts 3!

Let me get this out of the way, in the end we're all horrible people to some degree. As much as we may want to support something we love, we can also want to see something spiral down to utter failure and disgrace so we can dance around it like island savages in glory. Or to put it simply, we can also hate. :p

Anyways, I hate Lara Craft. I hate everything she represents. I mean... when they created her, the developers pretty much thought "You know how Indiana Jones would have been more baddass? If he was a she and had stonking great tits and 90s "fuck the world in a nonchalant way" attitude. Yeah wouldn't that be better.

Well, the new Lara Croft is obviously the game I'm rooting to fail in misery, and the only thing that's stopping my bitterness from driving me mad and turning me towards voodoo and looking up black magic and curses on google search is the undeniable fact that if the game did fail as miserably as I wanted, a whole lot of people would probably be getting canned because of it.

But still, if there was some magical way that wouldn't happen... Lara Croft would still be my candidate.

Anyways, enough with my rant, what's yours?

lol
Actually the New Lara Croft is supposed to be a vulnerable, scared but plucky protagonist. It looks decent. Yes the old, Lara is annoying and has a tendency to make me instakill her as much as possible.

OT:
Halo. It's annoying now.

CoD: This entire franchise needs to just disappear. Played out, short lackluster campaigns and broken multiplayer.

yeah... thats all i got

I'll second, or twelve, this.

There's something VERY humbling when a big name fails.

I'd also add the life of 'glorified patches' that are the EA Sports titles.
You don't play sports games do you? Nope? Then don't talk about them like you know what you're saying. Knowledge is power.

OT: Outright I don't really want games to fail. Wanting a game to fail you don't like is showing it more attention than you should, because it's a game. It shouldn't bother you enough for you to be wishing doom on it. Unless you purchased in which case you've already contributed to the opposite of that happening.

To the haters of the haters: I think it's sad you aren't fully in touch with your emotions.

To want something to fail, it's got to be personal. It either has to be a franchise you love crumbling to death, or a franchise you regard as your mortal enemy. Oh, I guess there's the third type: the cancers feeding upon the industry, but you can't really hate those in the same way.

So, in the former category there's Skyward Sword, Metroid Other M (US sales were awful, but does anyone know how it did in Japan?), and most recently New Super Mario Bros. U. In the latter, all I can really think of as Halo 4, but it's more of a reflexive response. I had a burning hatred for Halo in sixth grade for what I'm sure were very good reasons, but now I don't give a crap.

I hope Killzone 4 flops bad.

Because they had the chance to end the series with a good bang on the 3rd installment. But no, instead we get more AND the 3rd had an extremely lackluster story. What's the 4th even going to be about? the survivors of the ISA forces being court-marshaled and shot for genocide?

Not to mention you still had to play as isa scumbags.

I'm boycotting Activision for their pricing policy and I hope to see any of their franchises crash and burn.

Much as I'm ashamed to admit it, I kind of want Firefly to take a bit of a hit for Stronghold 3; which by all accounts was sub-par to hilarious levels.

Nope. I'm not petty enough to want to see a game fail just because I don't like it. Rather than wishing it would fail I just ignore it.
What this person said. You know what I do when there's a game I don't like? I don't buy it!!
For fuck's sakes people, turn off the hate valves, you'll enjoy life more. ...maybe.
No! I don't want to ignore every thing. If I believe it's gone to shit then I'll say it.

I find it petty to ignore corruption and these terrible tactics to increase their 'audience' while forcing more DRM or some other shit at the same time.
I'm not getting into corporate corruption or DRM or any of that other shit here because that is a whole other discussion.

Suffice it to say I find wanting a game to fail just because you don't like it incredibly petty. I, myself, am not fond of the CoD/Medal of Honor series but I don't particularly want each one to fail. I'd rather they stopped making them, but I'm not going to waste my energy on it.
Corruption and DRM is a huge part of the discussion, whether it's what you're talking about or not.

And if you want them to stop making them, how else do you think that is going to happen? There is only one way developers/publishers learn a lesson.

I find it petty to play Mr. Neutral while calling others names. Must make you feel like a big man.
No they are not unless you want to make them part of it, but I have no desire to derail this thread.

Second of all I am not calling anyone names. I am saying the behavior is petty. If you want to take offense to that then that is your problem. I am just trying to express an opinion.

And lastly, and by 'lastly' I mean I'm done with this discussion, it is one thing to dislike a game and let developers/publishers know why you dislike it is one thing, but wasting vast amounts of energy wishing it to fail only serves to make you miserable.
Yes they are! A lot of responses are because of DRM and what not. Stop making up stupid rules.

Second of all, it is calling names, and it's a petty argument to label everyone just because you disagree. I always see people acting so righteous, thinking they know whats best, when they should be defending instead of making lazy stupid responses. You wasted energy on that really. You think you're going to change anyone's mind by just calling people petty?

And how do you know they just dislike it and that's it? Also, where did you get this 'wasting vast amounts of enegry' rubbish from? This is a lazy thread where people can just quickly reply there opinion. Assumptions make for terrible arguments every single time mate.

Well, to be perfectly honest, I want Oddworld to fail.

Lemme explain this one. Oddworld was a thing way back in the earlier Playstation days with some pretty imaginative and cool things, a world dedicated towards being odd and funny with a hero who is a completely powerless slave called Abe. Brilliant. Game fun, sequel fun. The boys at Oddworld Inhabitants teased the notion of a quintology, a set of five games that would take us deep into the World of Odd that was this planet and maybe even explain why there was a Mudoken paw print on the moon.

Never happened.

They got as far as brilliantly taking care of Abe in a primary game and expansion game (which they stated that they wanted to do with all of their main characters) and then...problems. See, they were fine, and then Microsoft did that thing where they try to entice developers to work at their place while secretly being RUPTURE FARMS, where you will eventually be on the menu like Mudoken Pops! So, they sold out to Microsoft to work on the X-Box only and all the fans went "SCREW YOU!" because their next game was for like one system and didn't even receive well.

Actually, that happened twice. They had Stranger's Wrath and Munch's Oddysee and they didn't do too well. They might've done better if they didn't go exclusive and thus totally piss off anyone who ever owned a Playstation. Because back then, not everyone was even sold on the X-Box. The X-Box was the copy of all the test answers from Sony, who did all the work by collaborating with Nintendo and then taking it for themselves. (True story.) So, Microsoft copied what they had rightfully stolen off of their business partners and people were not too sure about that.

So, to get back onto things, Oddworld was very unsuccessful with its exclusive deal, and every now and then they poke their heads up out of the sand to say "Hey, we still exist!". And I go "Are you still exclusive to X-Box?", to which they nervously reply "Yes?", and I go "Fuck off, then. I'm still on Playstation, imaginary representation of Oddworld. You can't have me.". And they missed the bus by far. They were a clever niche at a time where clever niches were needed and they screwed it up, so I don't WANT them to succeed.

They deserve to feel like they shotgunned themselves in the faces for messing up their glory days where they had fans and a following that believed in their wackiness. They're going nowhere and I never want them to ever imply that they're ever going SOMEWHERE, because it's not happening. They're dead.

What this guy said.

So...the point of this thread is to wish hate and doom on a franchise that you may not enjoy, while other people may enjoy it considerably?

...alrighty then. That's pretty...shallow.

EDIT: Did you really have to put an emoticon in the title of the thread, too? Ugh.

I don't like the idea of wishing genuine failure on any industry providing jobs for people, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to see a wake-up call for some of the franchises getting away with homogenizing the same formula year after year in hopes of wringing all the cash they can out of it.

Yeah, I sorta feel the same way about people with snarky brony avatars... :p

But anyways, can't speak for everyone else that's posted, but I made this thread out of the awareness of how uncalled for it is to sometimes hate a game with such passion that you would wish doom and gloom on it. But everyone feels that way now and then. And to be honest, I find it funny.

You can't always demand people and yourself to be reasonable. Sometimes, being a terrible person can be a lot of fun as long as you're not hurting anyone.

Then again... nothing wrong with hurting someone a little.

^This. Last decent game of theirs I remember was Prototype... have they produced anything else worthwhile since then?

Also WoW. Although that already happened, I just wish people could see it more clearly so we could get Blizzard to start making something new.

I want a lot of things to fail.

Hitman Absolution after I played it. 'cos it's a success they will now stick to that non-blood money small linear level rubbish formula

max payne 3 because I don't think there's a point to max payne after he solved the death of his family New york nior experience

Every assassin's creed game - but that's an ongoing franchise just doing what it does, it's not ruining something I love or taking it in a direction I don't agree with. But mostly because watered-down Ubisoft games seem to be inspiring other publiisher/ developers to do the same thing.

Almost every EA game. That needs to die.

Basically this, and most every game EA puts out, for much the same reason.
