Yes, Diablo 3 because of the stupid always on-line DRM. And The Old Republic a little bit. Why didn't they make a decent single-player KOTOR 3 instead of this?

And I also want Call of Duty to fail, so Activision decides to introduce real innovation and good interactive gameplay in the franchise.

The whole "faction" system seems trite and contrived, and only intended to be a case of one-upping WoW: "Two factions? We have three! UMGUMGUMG!"
You know, games before WoW also had 3 factions...

I give to you .... Dark Age of Camelot...

Quite a lot of people have been asking for another 3 faction game for some time now.

Nope. I'm not petty enough to want to see a game fail just because I don't like it. Rather than wishing it would fail I just ignore it.
What this person said. You know what I do when there's a game I don't like? I don't buy it!!
For fuck's sakes people, turn off the hate valves, you'll enjoy life more. ...maybe.
No! I don't want to ignore every thing. If I believe it's gone to shit then I'll say it.

I find it petty to ignore corruption and these terrible tactics to increase their 'audience' while forcing more DRM or some other shit at the same time.
I'm not getting into corporate corruption or DRM or any of that other shit here because that is a whole other discussion.

Suffice it to say I find wanting a game to fail just because you don't like it incredibly petty. I, myself, am not fond of the CoD/Medal of Honor series but I don't particularly want each one to fail. I'd rather they stopped making them, but I'm not going to waste my energy on it.

After playing it through, I had(and, to an extent, still have) very ill wishes for Heavy Rain, as I'd never played a video game before with no redeeming qualities other than that one scene with the pinky cutting off.

I'm torn on this; I want DmC to fail just because of how they screwed up the Devil May Cry feel, but at the same time, I'm worried that a failure might kill the franchise as a whole.
Better for the series to die on a decent note (won't say high note, because 4 was a step down from 3) than have the entire franchise mutilated into...that for years to come.

OT: Yeah, you know my answer. Capcom have no idea what they're doing. Ninja Theory less so. The outright disrespect to the fans they've showed is pretty unforgivable.

Corruption and DRM is a huge part of the discussion, whether it's what you're talking about or not.

And if you want them to stop making them, how else do you think that is going to happen? There is only one way developers/publishers learn a lesson.

I find it petty to play Mr. Neutral while calling others names. Must make you feel like a big man.

No they are not unless you want to make them part of it, but I have no desire to derail this thread.

Second of all I am not calling anyone names. I am saying the behavior is petty. If you want to take offense to that then that is your problem. I am just trying to express an opinion.

And lastly, and by 'lastly' I mean I'm done with this discussion, it is one thing to dislike a game and let developers/publishers know why you dislike it is one thing, but wasting vast amounts of energy wishing it to fail only serves to make you miserable.

Honestly, I'd like World of Warcraft to die already, but only because I want the original warcraft series to continue.

I loved warcraft 3, and I'm a little bitter that I'm never going to get a warcraft 4, especially with WOW's storytelling being absolute garbage for the most part. If I had my way, I'd retcon everything from WOW and set warcraft 4 maybe a few years after Arthas becomes the Lich King.

Then again, with the direction Blizzard has been taking its' recent games, perhaps being left wanting more is for the best.

I was originally against The Old Republic for largely the same reasons, but I eventually realized that any follow-up to KOTOR 2 that wasn't made by Obsidian was going to be terrible anyway, so I'm not as bitter on that front (though I am pissed at Bioware/Lucasarts/Whoever's decision it was to retcon the most brilliant parts of KOTOR 2. Bastards.)

Oh, yeah, I forgot about that.

I hope that game dies, not with a bang, but with a pathetic wimper.

One of the only things I liked about the original ending of 3 was that it effectively destroyed any possibility of a sequel. I like self-contained trilogies, because you get a story with a clearly defined beginning and end instead of a bloated mess like, say, Star Wars.

Then the Extended Cut came along and "fixed" (I would make those quotation marks the size of mountains if I could) that particular issue.

To go off on a tangent, that's a large part of the reason why I don't like tie-in comics, novels and movies. If sometihng relevent to the game's plot occurs, it should occur in the game itself. Blizzard in particular is horrible with this shit.

I was looking forward to the failure of Star Wars TORtanic. I saw a beta gameplay video, and from that moment forward there was no doubt in my mind (or anyone's I hope) that the game was going to be an abject failure. Everquest's/WoW's frigging battle system and similarly dated visuals delivered in an engine that wouldn't be sanctioned for retail by its owners until months before TOR released (TOR was built in the engine as it was in 2008).

What could possibly go wrong dot jaypeg???

I don't think that's the same as genuinely wanting a game to fail. It's more like watching the preamble before a big test dummy crash in slow motion. There's no doubt about what's going to happen, so there's no "hoping". There's just anticipation and waiting.

I want to see a call of duty game fail. While call of duty isn't exactly raw sewage, it's still a pretty flawed game, being more or less a bunch of games that play and feel the same (With the exception of black ops 2, which had some big changes in it), and they don't deserve the raving hype they get.

Final fuckin' Fantasy 13-3. Dear God, just typing the name makes me want to puke in disgust.

How did it come to this, Square Enix? With every desperate attempt to rejuvenate the bloated corpse of your once-proud franchise, my belief that you are truly either retarded or insane increases. It has reached the point where the series can no longer even bow out gracefully. The only hope of redemption now is to cast Final Fantasy into the furnace and erase it from living memory. I can only hope that Final Fantasy 13-3 will be the game to end this sad story once and for all, as unlikely as it may be.

PS. Hurry up and release Kingdom Hearts 3!

Let me get this out of the way, in the end we're all horrible people to some degree. As much as we may want to support something we love, we can also want to see something spiral down to utter failure and disgrace so we can dance around it like island savages in glory. Or to put it simply, we can also hate. :p

Anyways, I hate Lara Craft. I hate everything she represents. I mean... when they created her, the developers pretty much thought "You know how Indiana Jones would have been more baddass? If he was a she and had stonking great tits and 90s "fuck the world in a nonchalant way" attitude. Yeah wouldn't that be better.

Well, the new Lara Croft is obviously the game I'm rooting to fail in misery, and the only thing that's stopping my bitterness from driving me mad and turning me towards voodoo and looking up black magic and curses on google search is the undeniable fact that if the game did fail as miserably as I wanted, a whole lot of people would probably be getting canned because of it.

But still, if there was some magical way that wouldn't happen... Lara Croft would still be my candidate.

Anyways, enough with my rant, what's yours?

lol
Actually the New Lara Croft is supposed to be a vulnerable, scared but plucky protagonist. It looks decent. Yes the old, Lara is annoying and has a tendency to make me instakill her as much as possible.

OT:
Halo. It's annoying now.

CoD: This entire franchise needs to just disappear. Played out, short lackluster campaigns and broken multiplayer.

yeah... thats all i got

I'll second, or twelve, this.

There's something VERY humbling when a big name fails.

I'd also add the life of 'glorified patches' that are the EA Sports titles.
You don't play sports games do you? Nope? Then don't talk about them like you know what you're saying. Knowledge is power.

OT: Outright I don't really want games to fail. Wanting a game to fail you don't like is showing it more attention than you should, because it's a game. It shouldn't bother you enough for you to be wishing doom on it. Unless you purchased in which case you've already contributed to the opposite of that happening.

To the haters of the haters: I think it's sad you aren't fully in touch with your emotions.

To want something to fail, it's got to be personal. It either has to be a franchise you love crumbling to death, or a franchise you regard as your mortal enemy. Oh, I guess there's the third type: the cancers feeding upon the industry, but you can't really hate those in the same way.

So, in the former category there's Skyward Sword, Metroid Other M (US sales were awful, but does anyone know how it did in Japan?), and most recently New Super Mario Bros. U. In the latter, all I can really think of as Halo 4, but it's more of a reflexive response. I had a burning hatred for Halo in sixth grade for what I'm sure were very good reasons, but now I don't give a crap.

I hope Killzone 4 flops bad.

Because they had the chance to end the series with a good bang on the 3rd installment. But no, instead we get more AND the 3rd had an extremely lackluster story. What's the 4th even going to be about? the survivors of the ISA forces being court-marshaled and shot for genocide?

Not to mention you still had to play as isa scumbags.
