Besides, to me, being fifteen, old school is PS2 and original XBOX. I'm sorry my being youthful annoys you.
Whoa whoa whoa...how can you be talking about nostalgia at fifteen? Nostalgia isn't what it used to be...
*pats you on the back* Yes, we are old. Especially by video game standards. I don't know if I can name a single video game franchise besides Mario that is as old as I am, and Mario is a young whipper snapper compared to me.

On topic, I fondly remember playing the Atari, but really I feel the most nostalgia for the TurboGrfx-16. We did play Bonk, but the game we really played the hell out of was Alien Crush... which I just looked up and they say it has been re-released on PSN!

Well, I think I know what I'm doing until 3am tonight!

I remember staying inside on some snow day playing a Crash Bandicoot, fighting Cortez (or something), when he was in a big mech thing and was mashing the platforms you stood on.

playing Banjo Kazooie, Mario Cart 64, and Perfect Dark for hours during the summer.

The graphics were sick!

I for one remember my old-school XBOX and PS2 quite fondly. So many good times, summer days and weekends just playing on my mediocre by todays' standards consoles.
Old-School is locking Sonic 3 onto Sonic & Knuckles. Old School is playing through Super Mario Bros 3. on the NES in one sitting because there is no "save" function.

There is nothing remotely "old school" about either the PS2 or Xbox.
That came off a bit harsh. The OP may not have used the correct term. I see where you're coming from, but I don't think by "old school" the OP meant 8-bit gaming, merely what he grew up with. No need to flip and launch a tirade of "back in my day we didn't have any of your fancy-schmancy 'saving'".

OT: Ape Escape. That will always hold a place in my heart. What could be better than smacking monkeys wearing funny hats over the head with a lightsaber and then catching them in a net. Ahh, good times.

I recently bought a re-released sega genesis console that has about 10 built in games and a cartrige with another 10. I spent some days playing alterated beast and Golden Axe, i also checked the other games out.
I'll bet a good 50% of users don't even know what a Sega Genesis is, since the Xbox and PS2 are apparently "old school"
I TAKE OFFENSE TO THAT!! And so does my Genisis...*hugs Genesis* It's ok baby...he didn't mean it...APOLOGIZE!!!! I DEMAND IT!!! *goes off onto a rant*

I still love Spyro 2 to death.
I just need the first and third and I'm a very happy man.
There are so many PS2 games that I want but getting games for PS2 here is impossible.

I'd have to order.

This thread perfectly illustrates why I loathe the term "old school". Anyone with half a brain should know that its stupid to apply the term "old school" to the prior system generation. It's like me calling Anti-Flag's Mobilize an old-school punk album because I'm too young to have experienced the Voidoids and Blondie.

I don't care if you're 16 or 60, the bottom line is that it's stupid.

Almost everything in Megaman X was superb, for me anyways. I also remember playing the first Splinter Cell and shitting myself every time I blew my cover. Which was frequent.

Wow 9 years really?

I think it would depend on the person. Thinking about, FFX was released just under half a life-time ago for me. The person that posted that, has lived longer since it was released than he had before it was released. When you consider something like that it makes setting a definite period for something to exist before being nostalgic seem a little silly.
I'm 29 and FFX doesn't seem like it was 9 years ago. I think a big part of that is that I haven't really sat down and gotten very far in FF XII or XIII yet, so FFX still feels like the "last" one to me.

To me PS2 and Xbox don't seem all that old school to me... I would more or less describe them as 'stale'. Give them time and I'll be looking back on the days of my youth on the original Xbox... Ah, good times...

For me? Nostalgia is the Ruins, Mine Cart, and Treetop levels from Donkey Kong Country. It's also Pokemon Blue Version and asking my parents if I can stay over my cousin's house because he had Sonic the Hedgehog 2. It's also Super Mario Kart and Super Mario World.

Nostalgia is also borrowing N64 games from my friends because my parents were tight on cash so I only asked for the big titles. I had Super Mario 64, Super Smash Bros., Harvest Moon 64, etc., etc....

Nostalgia is the Vetrex [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vectrex] at my Grandma's house. There were two games for this thing! TWO!! We had a built-in Astroids clone and a Racing Game. It was nuts!

Does anyone else remember Pokemon Pinball? I spent weeks entranced by that game... I think, if I remember right, my highest score was in the low 2 millions...
