Recusant said:That's a horribly toxic attitude; not just for the gamers in question, but the industry as a whole. There are a thousand reasons why any offered video game could be found objectionable; if consumers just "shut the fuck up" and "voice your opinion on the value of their offerings with your wallet", then how on earth are the developers supposed to know what the problem is? If they don't, then how is anything supposed to improve? We developed the ideas of communication and feedback for a reason; ignoring them just because they're sometimes misdirected is nothing short of madness.Jadak said:Honestly, people are too whiny.
For example, if the marketing implies that you get x amount of monsters when you buy the game, when in fact you only get some and the rest are dlc, that's a problem, they sold a product through false advertisements. If that is not happening, then shut the fuck up, voice your opinion on the value of their offerings with your wallet.
To add a supporting note to your reply: the silly part is that the "just shut up and vote with your wallet" attitudeis the exact same reason we have things like "all protagonists are mute, grizzled white males because they sell" being an issue for publishers. Not to mention the general ever present pressure on AAA games to become "safe" and generic. If they DON'T know why games don't sell then they're just going to make assumptions that its because they did something different and instead revert to a tried and tested formula; as opposed to realising that customers are getting sick of a previously "successful" thing.
Given that DLC has been "successful" in the past (i.e. its made people money) then they're unlikely to guess that this is the problem if people "shut up and vote with wallet".
