Before any donations are made though, I'd fully recommend holding onto the donations until the surgery and the followup is over, just in case something goes wrong and a followup surgery is necessary, or unexpected expenses related to the surgery come up that nobody's thought of yet. Or, on a more pessimistic note, Allison needs to continue making rent and eating while a malpractice suit is filed, in a worst-case scenario.

I'd also suggest ponying up a bit extra for a private (AKA Single Occupancy, etc) room to recover in while she's in the hospital, unless this is an outpatient procedure. I honestly can't too many donors begrudging her of that creature comfort.

Finally, I personally support donating whatever's left over to the next Desert Bus For Hope event. What better way than to celebrate the gaming community to come together in support of Allison than to make the Loading Ready Run crew suffer just a bit longer than they otherwise would? :-D

I agree, use the extra to get a better room, surgeon or something. Every possible advantage to Allison that the money will buy.

I'm VERY glad to hear that they've raised the money in such a(ridiculously) quick amount of time. I guess that just goes to show how much people love Extra Credits and Allison's work on it.

Here's hoping for Allison to have a successful surgery and a swift recovery!

Gentlemen, we can rebuild her. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic artist. Allison will be that artist. Better than she was before. Better...stronger...faster.

I'm glad people are still donating. When I heard they were estimating the cost of surgery to be 15-20k, my first thought was 'geez, is she getting surgery in the back of the local Kroger's or something?'. 20k goes by like THAT in general healthcare in the US, let alone in surgery.

It's wonderful to see people donate and help out. Warms my cold, dead, shrivel-ey heart.

Allison- don't know if you'll read this but I'm rooting for you.

£6.57 could have bought me a couple of pints in the pub this evening. Instead, it converted to $10 for this cause. Games matter. And given how much food for thought and hope that they have brought me (and I hope, us), Extra Credits sure as hell matters. And if I had more to give (student here), I would have. The gods alone know these guys deserve it.

I'd like to see the PTC (or whatever it's called) get off its high horse and do anything like this if one of their own community needed the same... Meanwhile, apparently we're the immature, selfish ones who're psycologically damaged serial killers in waiting.

Wow. The donations are piling in ridiculously fast. Keep it up escapist!
Something to the tune of $10k in about 2-ish hours if I'm not mistaken? Could only chip in a few myself, sadly, but I noticed a couple people donating $1000 each - it's things like these that show what the gaming community is really made of (hint: not the cash, d'oh); colour me proud by association.

[sub]...and they just keep on givin'.[/sub]
I just found out about it and I wish I could donate, but I don't have the money. If I did, I would donate at least $100 for her surgery. I have seen her artwork, and all I have to say is this: It's AMAZING!! I highly recommend seeing her official artwork, it's worth it.

It would a trajedy, if we lost an amazing artist to something that could be preventable. Also, shame on her insurance company for not covering her.

I'm quite amazed about how fast you doubled your goal in one day!

Best of luck to Allison.

I'm really glad to see the community come together and support Allison like this. Warms my tiny, cynical heart.

That being said, fuck the insurance company and its "pre-existing condition" bullshit right in its ass with a rusty fireplace poker coated with broken glass and syphilis. Twice.

I wish i could donate 1k to the cause, just so i can finally hear their thoughts on a topic i feel is extremely important to the industry. People listen to them.

But so glad the money (and then some) was raised for the surgery. Hoping for a speedy recovery

Honestly guys, just go to the donation site and keep hitting refresh.
It. Keeps. Going. Up. It's. Like. Not. Stopping.

I've decided to donate another $20. I'm so proud of this community and I want my T-shirt so show it =D

Maybe Allison could use the money for some preventive treatment for the other shoulder. Even if it is not as essential to her art, it might be a good idea.

I'm pretty sure the Doctor will already recommend this but, speaking from experience, every day in the hospital with dedicated help as opposed to home and on your own makes a very big difference.

It really is amazing to see so much good happen so quickly thank you for justifying my basic faith in humanity.

I was trying to think of something appropiate for a moment like this, I believe I found it.

Congratulations on 60K, Its good to see that when you asked for 15k in 60 days, the community turned around and gave 4x what was asked for in little over 24 hours.
