I've noticed a lot of comments lately after recent Yahtzee and MovieBob vids. They've both been censored whenever they drop an F-bomb. I find it really tacky... not the swearing, the bleeps. This site gave them artistic license with language and then took it away? I haven't seen any comments or news from the staff and I did try to search the most obvious keywords and came up with nothing but articles for silly laws in foreign countries.

So what's up?

I think they actually did it for artistic value. I remember hearing them swear without a beep a few times. It's probably nothing important.

Ahhh fucking hell. I hate censorship, if that is the way the creator wanted it then it should be that way.

I think Apocalypse Lane is censored by choice, so that is fine, but most of Yahtzees humour is swearing (in a bit more of a creative way but still), so bleeping that out could significantly reduce its worth.
But I think it is just the live things? Not his review bits, that's not so bad, there are only a few. :)

Censored yahtzee? I never noticed? The show that doesnt care about its language is Doomsday Arcade.
I just watched their bloopers vid and they are censored too. I'm guessing it's a new policy... no f-bombs. If that's the case I'm not happy about it.

Fuck. I believe it's an American term for referring to the word. "Dropping the F'Bomb" is to say it.

I'm a punk. Censorship is a mortal sin for me. and it's generally retarded. They can show like twenty guys getting massacred with a katana on Kill Bill, but if somebody says fuck on the exact same movie, we all of a sudden have to worry about the welfare of our children.

If there was such a policy they'd have forced Yahtzee, Bob and the others to edit all their previously released videos. This has not happened; ergo, no 'Anti-F-Bomb Policy'. My guess is that it's merely artistic license: bleeps are funny, too, and they're a change of the usual pattern... maybe those guys simply get bored with their own swearing.

-EDIT- Just read the post made by SirBrightside... strange, it doesn't make sense to me. I believe my point is still valid, but that statement from Russ is a definitive statement, too. I'm confused.

It was artistic decision. In Yahtzee's video there are bleeps, but at the end of the video you hear him say "cock and balls" loud and clear.

Don't get your little filthy-mouth undies twisted over nothing.

See here's the thing, unless it falls under the category of obscene, there is no call for censorship. With the Yahtzee reviews Washington DC, there was some definite obscenity, lending them credibility for their censorship. However, Yahtzee is the obscene act. There's no call for censorship elsewhere.

It seems to be just that particular word, and moreover I would swear it's been a somewhat recent thing as well. Maybe someone influental complained?

It doesn't bother me either way, to be honest.

"Oh my F---ing god!"

Whew, good thing that was censored else I might have been offended. Seriously, everyone knows what was in that beep, so who does it please?

Yeah it doesn't really matter if they censor it or not. It's 'tacky'? Do you even know what that word means?

Your retarded point aside, I wonder if they actually censor it themselves or if it's an individual choice based on the show. Considering some shows have censorship and some don't.

Look at it this way: would you rather have to do an age verification every time you watch a video with swears on this site? Does it really matter to you that much, because it doesn't seem to matter to the people who make the content who decide to have it hosted here. It's their baby, I'm sure if they didn't like the policy we would know, or they would pull their videos from the site. If they aren't worried about it, none of us should be that worried.

You know why this probably happened... new sponsors coming in that don't like it. And yes, it's tacky. If you don't want them to say fuck, tell them not to say it. Bleeping something with that annoying sound, where it's not hard to fill in the blank with what's actually said, is tacky.

Why is there so much bleeping out on the videos?

I thought it was a one-off for that Yahtzee in America thing, but now it's been in Doomsday Arcade, Escape to the Movies - really, we're not offended by the language!

Can you try and change whoever made this decision's mind, or at least tell us why.
We maintain a policy of "PG-13" level of profanity (usually) at The Escapist for many and various reasons. Sorry it annoys you to hear a bleep now and then. It annoys other people to hear someone say "fuck". This tells us there is no pleasing everyone.

So basically it's become forced on them.
I'm glad the escapist is shielding my virgin internet-dweller ears by murdering them while still letting me fully understand what was said. Maybe if I was under the age of 4 I wouldn't be able to piece it together. It seems that torture based censorship is designed to make me fear the use of "inappropriate" words.
