Look, we learned it from the southpark movie. Bleeping is actually funnier than swearing.
I feel the same way. When I hear Kyle dead pan a "What the f*eep*k man...?" I break out laughing. When I hear Kyle deliver the same line with no beep, I chuckle a little. Something about obscuring the obvious just makes it hillarious to me. I almost prefer little beeps here and there. Just as long as they leave some of the word behind. The F, or the K (or both). American censorship laws upgraded so that you can't have any part of the swear work audible, so TV got a hell of a lot less funny to me.

Why is there so much bleeping out on the videos?

I thought it was a one-off for that Yahtzee in America thing, but now it's been in Doomsday Arcade, Escape to the Movies - really, we're not offended by the language!

Can you try and change whoever made this decision's mind, or at least tell us why.
We maintain a policy of "PG-13" level of profanity (usually) at The Escapist for many and various reasons. Sorry it annoys you to hear a bleep now and then. It annoys other people to hear someone say "fuck". This tells us there is no pleasing everyone.

So basically it's become forced on them.
That's quite a disappointment as I remember reading two interviews with Yahtzee that claim when he asked if he should limit or remove the swearing the response was 'No.' and nothing else. It sucks that the Escapist has flipped on it's swearing policies but when it is attracting a large demographic I can see why they would worry about chasing some of those. But on the Internet fuck turns up all over the place and by censoring it you aren't really achieving anything.

I haven't noticed the censoring on the ZP videos but with Escape To The Movies it is incredibly obvious. Even if it was intentional, it is nearly too annoying to put up with. The New Moon review was like auditory rape with beeps and was in no way funny, he toned it down for the road but it was still terrible. I hope that moviebob doesn't kee this stuff up.

Censorship and political correctness is the new Catholic church. The church isn't in collusion with the government to control the people anymore. Not enough people at least. So in comes a new mechanism...

War is okay, watching people die in war is okay, wishing death upon your enemies is cool, etc. Don't swear though, how barbaric of you. You are what is wrong in this society. Go to work, wear what everyone else is wearing, don't extend beyond the norm. Be ashamed of yourself. Stop being fat, stop being poor, you should be ashamed, you have no honor.

You can't express yourself to others unless we say it's okay and in what fashion.

Seems like an overkill statement for the F-Bomb censorship, but that's kinda the fucking point, isn't it?

I'm a punk. Censorship is a mortal sin for me. and it's generally retarded. They can show like twenty guys getting massacred with a katana on Kill Bill, but if somebody says fuck on the exact same movie, we all of a sudden have to worry about the welfare of our children.
Kill Bill was an 18, so kids were never meant to watch it in the first place... Just saying...
that doesn't change a ton. thousands of kids own copies of halo, and I'm sure they are not 18. There isn't a whole lot kids can't do.
Regardless, it was rated 18, therfore anyone under 18 was not meant to view the material. You won't find similar levels of violence and gore in material which wasn't rated 18. Often it is the combination of elements which can negate an 18 rating but I would argue that the use of swear words isn't as strong a factor as violence and gore.

Note that it's only illegal to buy 18 resticted products if you are under 18. A parent or guardian can still choose to let you view it in your own home. At least, that's the deal in the UK anyway.

I think some of Yahtzee's stuff ended up being shown at events and stuff like that, and was censored for that. Like his awards and blooper real and stuff. could be wrong but that's what I figured when I saw it.

I'm extremely confused. I havn't heard any censoring of ZP, except for that "Yahtzee Goes to GDC" thing from ages ago (oh look, Feb 2008, apparently). However, lots of people are saying that it's being censored, while others seem to share my confusion. So, is it possible that it has something to do with where you live, or have I just missed an extremely important point that everyone is already aware of? I would greatly appreciate an explanation. (please?)

Perhaps I'm just so much of a whore for authority that they're rules have become a personal preference, but I find it almost funnier when shows are censored - Like South Park or Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

Then again, the censorship issue is always a revolution-starter for any work of art or literature. The issue eventually resolves itself and everyone trades in their tirades and pickets for monotony and security.

But this isn't that kind of beep (I prefer the beep too, it sounds funnier) this an annoying beep, like a fire alarm.

I agree... but we're just arguing our own preference here. One that others may not share.

I foresee that behind this issue, hidden deep in there, are concerns that the magazine is censoring the very artists they worked so hard to attract - without realizing that perhaps the act of censorship is one that is self-imposed or even artistic itself.

Imagine, also, that someday censorship of TV and things of the like will be a relic of the past (like not showing a male and female lead sleeping in the same bed, or having one of the mates with their feet on the ground so as to not imply sex in any way) and that there will be shows who voluntarily censor themselves to hearken back to this time - adding an ironic flip to an otherwise annoyingly hidden(and obvious) obscenity.

I don't particularly care about censoring F-bombs, or any other swear for that matter, I don't use it that often, and as long as it isn't censoring a whole opinion, but they need something else that "Beeeb" to cover it.

They censored ZP? Last time I checked all the swears were in tack. MovieBob general censors himself. I think he prefers a cleaner series. I actually don't think the Escapist censors it's contributors' videos. I know they don't censor the forums though. That I can prove by posting the word fuck. Hum... I shall go check ZP.

Edit: Just checked. The latest ZP features the word fuck no less then a half dozen times. Perhaps there is some regional censoring?

Yahtzee censored? Haven't noticed. But MobieBob is annoying, because of that *beep sound. I can't stand that beeping! It makes my head ache.

I find it funny that 'they' think that the types of people watching Zero Punctuation will be offended by the F word.
