That's considered something in the collector's edition's favor?

That seems more like a warning to me.
"Buy the F.E.A.R. 3 collectors edition and I'm telling you, there will be a statue of a naked, pregant, grey chick! Do you understand me!? Is that what you want?! 'Cause that's what you're gonna get if you pre-order that thing!!!"

Which demonic combination of psychosis do you need to be able to create such a monstrosity without wanting to rip your own eyes out?

I don't agree. There are parts of that game that will make just about anyone jump, not including the dumb ass youtube videos either. Most games can't come up with the same effect that Amnesia: The Dark Descent had. But, I think they were more going for action horror, and not campy lame horror either, strait make you jump when you least expect it horror.

I love these games, and I am looking forward to the next installment.
Then I must be immune to jump scares at this point, because in two titles I've played, I didn't really feel any sense of dread, fear or intrigue while playing them.
LoL, I would say that is a strong likely hood then, my friend. The games has instituted many sections where a lot of people were "jump scared". I myself found one particular section in the first game that successfully made me jump clear out of my seat.
Yeah FEAR and FEAR: Extraction Point both made me stop playing and turn on every light in the house once or twice. I still remember Fear: EP when I saw I was about to enter the Morgue, after the mindfuck I'd already been through...
"Oh no, fuck you. [quicksave] Not now. [Close Game]"
I think it took a week to start playing again.

Perseus Mandate was just dumb, and FEAR 2 had some creep factor but wasn't gold like EP. Hopefully they hit this one out of the park, I'm gonna buy it for sure.

Everything I'd already heard about FEAR 3- I'm sorry, I mean F3AR, and it physically hurt me to type that- told me that it was a huge pile of bad ideas.

But this? This is like a bad idea planetoid.

Someone had to come up with this idea. Someone else had to greenlight it. And then someone else had to design it. If any of them were aroused at any point in this process, I say it may be time to call the human species a failed experiment and scrub out the ol' beaker, so to speak.

[small]Seriously, she's dead. Might as well just put on a T-shirt that says "NECROPHILIA: I dig it!".[/small]

Isn't this the kind of stuff that gives gaming a bad name. I am normally first up to defend games to non gamers, but stuff like this is not helping.

Here's this game charactor who was made to have children when 15 and 16 years of age and while in an induced coma. Then in the second game rapes someone and is now pregnent again.

This is what game publishers think would be a good subject for a naked figurine. Games publishers are not really helping themselves here. I'm not saying you are not allowed these kinds of story lines, but doing somehitng like this just seems like glorifing it to me.

Que Fox News. Well what else do you expect.

Well, I hope they've a Wii version of FTHREEAR, complete with the figurine... because we all just found out what we're going to get for our 10-year-old cousins...

I played the first game on my PC once upon a time and it was reasonably enjoyable. Then years later, I bought the 360 copy for maybe five bucks and finished the first level before switching to something else.

Someone earlier mentioned not playing any of the games and based on Yahtzee's reviews never trying one. I wouldn't immediately say that you should avoid the series, but if the expansions and sequels are really as carbon-copy as he says then I don't see why you'd play more than one.

OT: WTF. What is wrong with people? Why would you want a figurine of a gaunt, pregnant, mutant girl? I suppose you also looked for deviantArt porn of Dren from Splice...

That's neat, but some "Parents' Group" will surely get that pulled off the market.
