anc[is]The decision will be what gender you are. Calling it now. That's not what Peter thinks it is, but that's what it will be
Why does everyone keep acting like this is new? Gender choice was introduced in Fable 2. It's not just you- I'm seeing articles everywhere acting like this is Fable 3's trump card. Even if it was new, it wouldn't be a selling point.

However, Molyneux also promised that Fable III will be, "undoubtedly the best Fable there has ever been. You're going to be totally blown away by the pace, the story, the surprises, the new levelling up system, the new cast."
Right, because he hasn't said that about every other Fable game so far. Seriously, the more I hear from Peter, the less interested I am in Fable 3. Let someone who doesn't have their head up their own rectum talk about the game and maybe I'll give a damn about it.

Edit: Oh, and "People always enjoy a good fable. M'aiq has yet to find one, though. Perhaps one day."

That is all.

Hmm, well I think Peter Molyneux needs to stop overhyping his own games like this. What's more he (and games journalists in general) need to do their homework, or at least take and check their notes.
I agree with all you said, but this part in particular.

The Fable games are interesting. And I've found enjoyment to be based on how much hype you've absorbed. The more you've absorbed, the less fun you'll have. Yes this is true for every game, but the Fable series in particular, probably because Moleneux actually gets us to truly believe him.

Trust me, ignore the hype, ignore every preview of the game, and you will enjoy it far more, or at least hate it far less.

I'm a bit skeptical about this. First of all, PM has never made me care about any of his character. Second, he makes his player characters into avatars instead of characters, and unlike say SotC's Wanderer (in which the action sequences had you play as an avatar, one with the character in all thoughts at the moment, only to be given time to relax and have it shift into a character built up by your interpretations of what you're given as well as your actions from the avatar segments) or Halo: Reach's Noble 6 (where the whole game is spent as an avatar, only for the final few moments of the game having you see him/her as a character whose story and personality was built off your own), PM never has them change over even for a moment. Partly this is due to a flawed moral choice system (just go look up Shamus's criticism of the story in 2 for a few example, especially in the prision section) as well as the immature approach (which is something I actually love) the entire series has. Lastly, PM seems to still assume that just because we would care in real life, that doesn't mean that in a game we would.

Show of hands: who here has been told not to do something in a videogame, then looked the person who did it straight in the face (if you could) and did it right there in front of them?

Well, if the Fable 3 intro is anything to go by, then my guess is this:

Chicken Marsala or Chicken Pot-Pie.

Whichever you choose will shape the fate of a hero's physique and alter the destiny the Alibion Fried Chicken franchise that shall be fought over in a bitter revolution. [footnote]Granted, this is minor skirmish refers really to just one of a bazillion properties that you can purchase and forget about decorating as you race to become King[/footnote]

What exactly was the "tough decision" at the end of Fable II, again? I can't even remember much other than a certain sod getting shot one way or the other. Oh wait, now I remember! Was it when
You had to choose the fate of your dog? Seriously, that wasn't a tough decision, it was just locking you in because the damn game mechanics relied so heavily on that stupid hound for digging up treasure because our "hero" couldn't just do it himself.
I believe Fable III brings back the fateful companion, so maybe we can at least choose something else? Perhaps something less annoying? I would, without a doubt in mind, choose a little, evil minion of some sort that could follow me around instead of a pup. Imagine a little hooded ghoul or ghost that would still let you find treasure, but not be royal pain that had to be affectionately attended to out of obligation! A little ghost/ghoul could even be given an auto-disappear command when the action gets heated so you don't have to fret over snuggling it to wellness for jumping into a bandit's cutlass.

Again, you had me at John Cleese. The Fable games have always been funny, especially Fable 2's flavor text for one-star items.

Thanks for sweetening the deal, though. Pre-ordered the Collector's Edition of this. Would have gotten Collector's for New Vegas, but I already have Fallout 3's Collector's Edition, so...yeah. Lunchbox>>>>>all
Same here about John Cleese. I watched the trailer for it on Amazon, and I immediately new it was a buy. I will be pre-ordering the Collector's Edition once I deposit some early birthday money. I also just pre-ordered the Limited Edition of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, I decided to use a past 20 dollar Amazon credit on that. I should be getting it on the 5th of October release date, which incidentally is my birthday. Yea!

Castlevania: LoS also had me, when I saw the game-play trailer, as well as the beginning of the trailer on Amazon, which was narrated by Patrick Stewart. I'm a sucker for big name voices in games.

The two game will probably the last two I buy for awhile, I need to start conserving my money for when I finally graduate from college this December.

Saying this will be the "best fable game" is kinda akin to saying "the most fun you can have while being plunger raped". Never cared for Fable. Always seemed like an over hyped adventure game that was never really anything but painfully mediocre at best.

Maybe if ole Pete M. keeps telling everyone that will listen to him blather about how awesome this upcoming Fable is going to be he might find someone who doesn't think he's totally full of shit. Of course that person will probably wear a helmet 23 hours out of the day and get easily excited at the mention of pudding and anything shiny.

You know, I kind of think it would have been better if he had kept this sort of detail as a surprise for release. Seems like a much better approach personally.
Yeah... but then...
I'm betting at least one choice will be between starting off with Silly Hat A or Silly Hat B.

I never understood the hate on Fable II, I mean I agree that the ending was sort of a dick move. But the rest of the game was very awesome, in my honest opinion even better than the 1st one. Especially guns, pistol ftw <3

OT: I'm sooo looking forward to the game. Pre-ordered the Collecor's Edition, I've been a fan of the Fable franchise since I got my Xbox all those years ago.
I personally thought the entire game was crap. The ending was just a cherry on top to solidify my opinion. If you would like to know why e sure to ask b/c I don't want to explain myself f you don't want to listen.

Ok The choice will be an easy one to predict, I will end up with this game at some point, but not right away.

There will be three options.

Choice 1 (good) Save you village/supporters from evil brother

Choice 2 (Joke) Save your dog, let the village burn, lose supporters

Choice 3 (evil) Let village burn but get tons of money or awesome weapon that makes you very strong, lose supporters

Ah Peter Molyneux. I will keep buying your games as long as you keep being the most enthusiastic person in the universe. That guy could sell me rock if I thought it could make life altering decsisons that will impact every facet of everything ever made... ever.
I second that :p.

Fable 3 has a tough decision?

What about Fable 1? I never could bring myself to hit that little boy at the start... :(
But if you punch the boy, and then punch the bully, you make TWO gold! It's so efficient!
Anyway, this seems like it could be pretty good- I personally loved Fable 2 (Oh, great, something else I just remembered for the Heresy thread...), and this looks even more fun, from what I've seen. Even if that, in Molyneux fashion, only ends up AS fun as Fable 2, well, that's ok too, I guess.
I wonder if the choice will have anything to do with walking up to that mountain and shaking it by the hand?

I wonder what it could be?

Hmm, this and the new Andriod app, makes me want to buy it as it seems more and more appealing the closer it gets.

Oh please, this is Peter Molyneux we're talking about. I can understand him having a sense of humor, but he's pretty serious about stuff like that isn't he?
