I've never seen facebook as a gaming tool, but I can't complain if it gets more people gaming. If it doesn't turn out too bad, I might even give it a go. Hell, everything's worth a try once, right?

brave arms did an hour long test over on their facebook page last night (thurs 4/8).. it was to test their browser on many different systems. It was cool because if you got the browser running it had a character you could move around and do some funny emotes with, also there was a really funny trailer attatched that i dont think has been released yet. Pretty fun to be a part of the initial testing and it looks like they are going to run another one over this weekend so check out their facebook page.

HHHMMMMM might be ok.
ill read into it more. i hope its not JUST friends.
See I think I would only play this game if it was friends. That kind of is a Facebook advantage, I only have to communicate with people I know... Not tweens with a sugar high...

HIISSSSSS! Who got color in my FPSssssssss!?!?

Kidding. If it's any good, maybe we can all stop hating Facebook for the Zynga events and befriend them. Also, I expect, instantaneously, that monkeys will fly out of my ass when that happens.

I actually have a Facebook account (Not that I even DO anything with it...), so I might have to try this.

I know I'm being skeptical, but it can't be too long after release before someone has made and distributed a hack for this. While Zynga forgets to put in a report function.

Sure it looks nice, but I thought the same thing about Quakelive last year, and half of the players there are cheaters, so I might try it, get addicted, and then perma-rage quit.

i dont get it... the neat thing (objectively speaking) about most current FB games is they're coffeebreak titles, and they have much opportunity given their slow / turn based nature for linking in with the way a soc net works (the whole "wall" of status updates and the like), allowing people who may not be playing at the same time to share bonuses with each other, etc.

I just can't see that with an FPS. It's be like tacking on a racing game or something.

Farmville WAS that, until it just got a bit too bloated. Haven't touched mine in over two weeks after I found myself with a workload that meant I couldn't get to it. The habit's broken and I'm not sure if I'll be back - it's now too much effort and a daily turn can last an entire lunchbreak, let alone a coffee stop. Got into Battlestations instead - can dip in and out ENTIRELY at leisure, or leave it running in the background to hit a button on it in idle moments. Plus it's easy to hide from the boss, not particularly noisy (if you turn battle sounds off) or demanding of bandwidth or ability to blast through firewalls, and only requires a few mouse clicks and modest hardware. Again, I can't see any of that being compatible with a modern FPS. If nothing else, my 2006 laptop and laptop-based desktop workstation (2009 but you'd never tell) wouldn't have a cat's chance in lucifer's own dog pound of running something like that (which will almost certainly be delivered over flash, too).

Cool, I'll try it out. I highly doubt it will be very good, but it will be worth a look.

I've never bothered trying facebook games before, but every time I use the chat it ends up crashing my browser. :(

I agree, first person shooters are a fast paced, intense experience and completely different from the turn based genres. I personally am glad there is a FPS coming out on facebook, there are PLENTY of coffeebreak titles already, its staggering. Facebook needs a game that i can actually PLAY, instead of manage which makes it feel like chores instead of fun.
True any FPS will not be as work friendly beacuase it actually involves your full attention but again there are PLENTY of games that dont. Believe it or not there are people like me who dont social network while working and use facebook at home so this is not an issue.
I dont think Brave Arms will change gaming or be as big of a success as farmville or many similar titles but i DO think it will be a fun free shooter that i can't wait to try.
