I know what it is! Let's call it an 'RPG'. As for FPSRPG I consider that to be a more Bioshocky thing, where the focus is clearly FPS, but has elements of RPG. FO3 is opposite that. The focus is clearly RPG, with elements of shooting.

I'd add action to the first bit, as it's sorta like an action rpg... and ARPS sounds fun...

As an outsider to both genres, as soon as you have levels and gear stats and chit chat with NPCs, it's an RPG. Even though it may be first person and it shoots, it's an RPG. The RTS designation has a storied and respected history of online competition. Levels and gear throw balance out the window and are unsuitable for hard core competitive play.

As for the MMORPG, I haven't seen and don't recall an MMO which isn't an RPG, so I just call them MMOs and I think that's what more and more people are calling them lately.

The way I figure it is, if someone asks me what kind of game it is, without thinking I would just say "It's an RPG". I wouldn't quite label it a FPS. Seems too broken

I'm guessing that the reason is that BG2 is turn based and thus isn't real time.

Yes, I did. Bought it on release date back in the day. I'm still claiming that it's turn based, per AD&D. You think it's wrong?
I'm not talking about the controls as such. They can indeed be likened to RTS, but the core of the game is turn based.

...Then why do people keep accusing FO3 of being an FPS? Combat in an FPS isn't determined by your stats, skills and such. Combat in FO3 IS determined by your stats, skills, and as such excludes it from the FPS club...

....just because u can jump off platforms in Metel gear Solid doesnt make it a platformer even if thats all u spent ur time doing....
i played it on the pc and scolled out to 3rd during most of the walking about....
