I won't comment on the authenticity of these docs, but I can confidently assert that Fallout 4 has been in DEV since F:NV went gold.

I mean, the previous two games did make a crapton of money.

1945? Atomic energy? Why do I get a feeling this is a huge fake? And if it is real then Bethesda got worse at storytelling.

Especially when they imply there was peace and good will after World War II. Especially when they say Atomic power wasn't used as a damn weapon in fallout. The very first Fallout, and even Fallout 3 made it very clear they valued nuclear weapons above all else. Even dismantling the space program to turn them into nukes.

So the world ended in 2077, and the guy talks about World War II. So that's over 132 years ago. World War II is so irrelevant in Fallout's timeline its not even funny. It may be relevant to our timeline, but Fallout is so far in the future its ridiculous to even call back to it.

Hell, Nixon was president in Fallout's timeline. Yet no one cared to talk about that either because it was also a century ago.

Its like an American patriot still angry over the war of 1812 "destroying America." In 2013. It disregards the changes that can happen in 132 years between Fallout and World War II. Which was so drastic its not even the same universe anymore.
I thought that in the Fallout universe the lore went that the bombs were never dropped at the end of World War 2, leading instead to a bloody land war in Asia and turning the cold war into a full scale war between America, Russia and China, which ended in MAD because there wasn't the same fear about nuclear bombs, since one had never been used offensively before (which was then retconned In Fallout 2 as the Enclave dropping the bombs to kick start their Vault tests for deep space exploration.)

But I haven't played Fallout in ages, maybe the Japanese nukes have been retconned back in?

That's real fucking neeto Bethesda but if you're going to ever get around to making Fallout 4 a reality, you're going to have to scrap that last engine of yours entirely otherwise we'll end up with a copy+pasted Fallout New vegas all over again, complete with a million more bugs.

Well damn. I'm all for another Fallout game, but I was really really REALLY hoping for "Fallout: London."

I do wonder about the choice of locales from a marketing perspective. As a non-American, Boston does seem to be one of the more anonymous cities you guys have over there. I mean, New York has the Empire State Building and Liberty Island, Vegas has the strip and the casinos, Washington DC has the White House and the Jefferson Monument and a whole host more... but what the heck does Boston have? Without googling, I wouldn't have a clue.

That said, "Fallout: New Vegas" was undoubtedly one of my favorite games of the last few years (I guess I got lucky in not seeing very many "bugs") and if they can do something similar with this next Fallout game, I will absolutely buy it. Just no freaking microtransactions please.

I will agree with this, while still pointing out that "Fallout NV" was undoubtedly one of the best games, from a gameplay and story perspective, that I've ever owned.

Hey heres some real news.

Bethesda Studios is working on Fallout 4. Thats been known for well over 4 years now.

Zenimax isn't going to push a FO4 release anywhere near the same fiscal quarter as they push ESO, its simply self defeating and I don't care how many people shrill "Zenimax and Bethesda aren't the same studio!" cause yeah I know but Zenimax is the fiscally controlling party in that relationship. Bethesda could be DONE with FO4 right now...it wouldn't release until at the earliest....November 2014...because to throw it out any earlier than that directly competes with their own confirmed release of ESO in April, they can't put FO4 anywhere within six months of ESO simply to ensure it doesn't divide their own guaranteed market base.

So yeah there is a Fallout 4, we've known that for a long time, but we're not going to see it til well into the end of next year if not into 2015. Zenimax is taking a huge financial risk with ESO, there is no way they will compromise it. FO4 will be held for release when it maximizes on market potentials, not when it has a potential to detract from them.

Using the wonderful powers of logic, it is possible to conclude that; of course there will be a bloody fallout 4! Its just a matter of patience. Which, considering the world may be slowly falling apart, may prove useless. Although we may even get to live the real life version of fallout if i could just figure out how to arm my warheads

IF it's real, Boston is a cool city but... eehhhh I dunno. Kind of boring. I was hoping they'd take the series somewhere really different.

If this is true, looks like we're going up to my neck of the woods. Ok I don't live in Boston and I don't go there that much, but it's only half an hour away.

Yeah, its Kotaku. I don't trust them for shit. It sounds to me like they're in danger of missing their page-view quota for the month, so they drummed up some bullshit at the expense of Fallout fans who still have some hope left after Survivor 2299.

Fuck, I hate them.

Alright, Boston. No idea what to say about that. However, I actually misread it as Bastion, so now I'm imagining people fighting there with mutants and such, with The Kidd vs Super Mutants.

I'm getting extremely confused now. Was there not a news post like this like, Months ago that Three Dog himself confirmed it was in Boston? Does no one else remember that happening?
Oh shit, I get it now. I'm a precog aren't I?
Two different stories, one where the voice actor for Three Dog confirmed he would be reprising his role.
http://uk.ign.com/articles/2013/01/09/fallout-4-teased-by-three-dog-voice-actor

And another earlier story that suggested the game might be set in Boston.

I don't think it's real anyway. Bethesda wouldn't do Ron Pearlman out of a job. Would they?

I think Ron Perlman still has enough work [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2274648/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_1] cut out for him.

Any how, This smells like fake to me. And I refuse that the hype surrounding Fallout 4 will turn the game in to the next HL2 Episode 3. Or Half Life 3 if you still care about the biggest vapourware since Duke Nukem Forever.

I trust that Bethesda knows what they are doing with what they got, and they will let the public know more when they think it's ready. And they also know that ZeniMax media wouldn't dare to force them in turning up the production speed because the fallout of a bad or buggy game is something you don't wish upon your worst enemy.

Well, with the exception of Infinity Ward & Activision.

See this right here is why I have such a hard time with some of the more diehard fans of the Fallout series.

Everything has to be relevant to what has already been established in Fallout lore, or else it's rejected. No going out of the bounds that the series has already created, no extending beyond what has already been established.

I'm quite certain this bit about WWII has to do with more of the Institute's background that has not yet come to light. What is "irrelevant" is whether or not it applies to established Fallout lore or real world history. The only thing that matters is if the idea grows into something that benefits the game as a whole, which we can only know once the finished product comes into our possession.

Well if this is true I'm gonna have to make sure my character has a VERY high speech skill. The Wastelands need the return of one of the greatest lawyers ever. Alan Shore's time has come again!

Or if I add to the gun Skill I can make Danny Crane. Hell, that man would THRIVE in the Fallout universe.

the player says "war never changes"... unless i get to play as ron-motherfucking-perlman himself and he delivers every single one of my lines, i'm pissed.
What I'm hoping for is that the game ends with you as an old man, who does the outro narration and when you hear your slightly changed, tinged with hard-life old man voice, you realize you've been playing as a young Ron Perlman's narrator character for the entire game. Of course this wouldn't work if you chose to play as a female so it probably won't end up being true.

I kinda hope this whole document is bullshit anyway, the writing could be a lot better after all.
