Yeah as many people here have said, that would be utter suicide on Bethesda's part. I mean on the PC front the modding community for Bethesda published games is amazing, and while many PS3 owners (myself included) are still upset about how they handled Skyrim it still sold extremely well on the PS3. Plus the PS4's specs make it way easier for them to develop for and port their games so they can't use the old "PS3 has memory issues" excuse anymore. All in all this is one of the shakiest rumors yet and if they ever went through with it then I know many people who will kick Bethesda to the curb.
Be smart Bethesda, and don't go full on retard like MS has.
you started laughing but you never stopped... such a great lung capacity o.o but you better be careful, you gotta breathe sometime.
Have you seen my avatar? I have no lungs my dear friend!
No you two Pikachus stay away from Tier 15. XD

People are stupid THE ARTICLE ARE USING NEW VEGAS SCREENSHOTS. Its not real.
Actually, if you had bothered to read the first paragraph of the article, you'd see that it says:

You can take a look at some screens from the predecessor, ?Fallout 3,? in the slideshow at the top of this article.
OT: This makes no business sense whatsoever. Why alienate your fanbase by making your successful cross platform franchise exclusive to one?

And nothing of value was lost. Fallout 3 was just reskinned Oblivion to me and after playing Oblivion for so many hours I will never like it or anything like it again.

They can have it.

Seriously, Bethesda has yet to show it knows how to make a fun game. I don't care how big your world is unless the core gameplay is fun.
Ah, so you haven't enjoyed the Elder Scrolls or Fallout series? You're quite clearly in the minority as far as sales are concerned so I'm interested to hear what kinds of games you do enjoy. Do you dislike non-linear games where you can go anywhere and do anything without necessarily following the main storyline? Are you against first person game?
I play all kinds of games, but I'm against those that drag you along, tricking you into spending countless hours, waiting for the fun to start. Skyrim was a big step in the right direction, but the combat was still horrible. The only way I was able to get the slightest amusement was to go full stealth.

You can have an open world and still be entertaining (see: Infamous)
Ones that drag you along or ones that wait for you? If you want to follow the main quest you have all the means to do so.

Do you have examples of open world games that you felt did it right that don't fit in the GTA big city mode of sandbox? (inFamous is an absolute favorite of mine, FYI) "GTA/Spiderman 2/inFamous/Prototype/Hulk/Assassin's Creed", these are games that follow a specific but enjoyable formula. Generally focusing around one city or a few in which you have a basic overall plot-line and somewhat repetitive mini missions throughout the city. I'm not sure where I'd put Red Dead Redemption, somewhere between a true open world and a city based sandbox. Is it possible the Bethesda opens worlds that are too open for you to enjoy?
It's not the size or openness of the world that bothers me, it's the core gameplay (combat, exploration, puzzle solving) that is so underwhelming. My thought process is: Why have a lot of anything if it isn't good? People always champion all of the "Activities" in GTA games but most of it is horrendous, while Infamous has repetitive side missions, but those side missions are usually fun and give the player tangible rewards.

I can see ps4 not getting it just cause xbox used game fee because Bethesda hate ppl who give or trade there game in but pc will get version cause they only make money from them but if ps4 come with we have drm fees then ps4 will get a copy as well. they falling link shows that they hate used games. http://www.gamespot.com/news/bethesda-used-games-absolutely-a-concern-6407023

If it's true, there will be nothing that can contain my rage. I love Fallout but I'm not going to be bullied into buying a system I don't have any interest in for one game. All because some asshat has to be a prick and hog it all to themselves.

...that's like calling Vampire: the Masquerade a reskin of D&D... I mean sure, they're both pen-and-paper RPGs...

This'll never happen. I could at most see it being a timed exclusive (even that's incredibly unlikely), but a full on one? Nope. Bethesda knows they'd get more money from going multiplatform, and they've always been PC first (apart from Skyrim's DLC)

If the planets align and this actually happens though? No need to worry. We have Wasteland 2 on the way.
Took the words right out of my mouth

After Wasteland 2 we have Project Eternity and way waaaaay down the pipe.. Torment: Tides of Numenera

Bethesda wouldn't be that stupid.

That is what immediately comes to mind, but Bethesda would totally do this, wouldn't they?

It's both possible and probable that this is true, with MS buying exclusive rights to the game from Bethesda in order to push their console, similar to what Nintendo did with Bayonetta.

Microsoft's biggest weakness was their lack of decent exclusives outside of a few big name shooters because Sony kept snatching them all up. So this might be Microsoft's way of leveling the playing field.

Nope, still not buying an Xbone. Even if this turns out to be true.
Especially if it turns out to be true. But to be honest, an Xbone exclusive gaiden game is still possible, although if playing it is essential to the Fallout 4 experience somehow, then screw them.

Well, I can't see Bethesda existing much longer if they do make the mistake of making Fallout 4 exclusive to the failbox one.

Bethesda is responsible for releasing most of the biggest and most successful games for the PC in the past several years, that would be more than half of their income from the game releases! I can't believe they'd be that stupid.

Hmm, I dunno. Bayonetta 2 was never going to get made without Nintendo but Fallout 3 and NV were very successful on all formats.

Seems to me like they may try to pay for all these exclusives so that people will have no choice but to buy an Xbone to play them. Even if they are just time exclusives it could still work for people who are desperate to play game shortly after they come out.

I feel betrayed really. As much as I held the PS3 in much higher regards than the Xbox 360, I really wanted to have hopes for the next xbox. I kept telling all my friends that asked "So youre probably going to get the PS4, right?", that instead I was "Waiting to see what the Xbox would offer." Turns out, so far they are offering a cable box with a disc drive that's attempting to block out the used games market by charging for it anyway. Even if they turn out and say that they aren't doing all the bad things they've said so far, I refuse to buy from a company that outright lied to me about something that big.

what if the next Elder Scrolls is Xbone exclusive too?
Then we can all wave to Bethesda and Microsoft as they throw themselves off a cliff, wrapped in each other's embrace. I can't wait for the next generation. It feels like it's time to cull the herd/industry. Exciting times.
