How about make a brand new engine, not some Oblivion copy. Everything else is fine.
To make a completely brand-new engine would take years. And not like a couple, around 6 or 7 years to make a full-sized game with a brand new engine and an open-world feature. And even then, it would probably be similar to Oblivion's engine anyway, because it would be the same game-type no matter what.

less weapon degradation. its impossible that real weapons degrade that fast. also, it would be nice if you could ask where a certain person is, because i have spent hours trying to track down various persons.

I also hope to see it before 2018.

And I hope it comes with the addition of harder enemies and possibly a higher level cap. after about level 14 it seemed like you could pretty much parade around the wasteland like you were an unstoppable tank of death which sorta took away some of the fun for me.

I'd rather see ES5 instead, personally.

But I would like it better with ES series method of "If you suck at a skill, practice"
and have merchants actually be able to buy all of my stuff...always ran out of money when I was still halfway encumbered.

I'd like to see flying, either via magic or via Icarus device. Why? Because we know the engine can handle it and animesque battles in the air but with medieval weapons would be awesome. On that note, I'd also like to see more reflexive combat physics, i.e. knockback and shock effects that affect more than corpses.

I'd also like to see more details to set it aside from the generic. Little things like, I don't know, trees that grow in latticed groves that become tubes/ordinary-seeming animals with odd traits or inherent magic/ weird atmospheric effects. It needs things that say "This is not earth in the anachronistic and magic middle ages".

Killing children. That adventure into Little Lamplight pissed me off so much, because I knew the easiest thing to do was just remove the mayor and be on my merry way. But he had a magical aversion to bullets.

I can't really blame Bethseda for doing that CYA move, but at that moment I realized how far it had deviated from the original Fallout.

Come to think of it, the dark vices that were all over F2 were non-existant in F3.

Of course, it's never going to be put in nowadays; I'm sure they would get sued before you could say 'Vault Dweller.'
I completley agree with you. Especially the part about killing children. Sure, you can put a grenade in a little old ladies pocket, but you can't kill anyone under 18? That makes no sense. Little Lamplight would have been so much easier if you could just kill the mayor and be done with it.

I've noticed a few people mentioning the unlikeliness of a working vehicle in a Fallout game due to the probable lack of fuel or the post-apocolyptic setting, and I will reply only with this:

I would like the see the wasteland become much greener, I understand the setting but if it tied into the plot or something trees and grass appearing out of the dirt would be nice.

I would like to see it not exist. I don't want another Fable on my hands. I loved Fable: TLC, it's one of my favourite games. Then Fable II came along and blowed.

Fallout 3 is a fantastic game. Let them release Broken Steel and let it go out with it's head held high.

All I really want is:

- A longer main quest
- Joinable factions with lots of missions, preferably some factions that are at odds with each other so you can't join both
- Better itemization meaning more collectable and special items and also improvements to existing items like bigger magazines, scopes, or armor plating.

If FO3 had these things, it would be the best game ever made.

I would love it if your statisttics actaully affected your character. Other than in snipeing, as long as you free aim, haveing a small guns skill of 15 and having a skill of 100 make little difference. Also, I would like to see "survival" put into the game. There is no reson why those homelss privks outside of the cities are dying from dehydration, and the only thing my character has ever eaten in his life is a sweetroll ( plus and few crates worth of assorted narcotics) and be perfectly healthy living of stimpacks.
