Return to the West Coast, and perhaps even a look at the rest of the world. A choice of different upbringings with different main quest storylines (e.g. Vault Dweller, Tribal, BoS). Use of vehicle fast travel and random encounters (though this has been modded into the Fallout 3 now) Bring back traits!! Make it bigger, make it better!!

P.s. many of the things you guys are asking for are available in mods for Fallout 3 :p

People starting to get back up on their feet and face the world they occupy meaning:

More Weapons/Armour created by the people(Not from old parts like in Fallout 3)
More Cities like Megaton
More normal people having Opinions/Moral stances on goings on in the wasteland etc
Practical ways of dealing with Wasteland Creatures

Also some more music would be nice and prehaps nature could get in a kick in the balls and start growing little bits of green etc and more mutations

Finally I never felt Enclave had a purpose or anything they are meant to be like Wasteland Nazis not a few troops strewn across the wasteland so a proper threat please.

Ditch Bethesda [or force them to make decent character models and conversation mechanics].
Less Super Mutants [they were something to be reckoned with in the previous instalments]
Implement climbing, perhaps? But not a the loss of a huge gameworld..see what the next gen can achieve, anyhow..

I would definitely love to see it take place in a different area, like another big city like New York or Boston or Chicago. China or another country is a cool idea, but I don't think it would work - having it not set in America would lose that 50's Americana vibe that is such an integral part of Fallout, I think.

I'm not asking for much else, aside from new gear/enemies/quests/characters, and more crazy/awesome stuff like Tranquility Lane and Liberty Prime.
I agree that it should stay in America 50's style (which I personally have become very attached to having just recently downloaded the original Destroy All Humans from the Xbox Marketplace) to me it just seems that nobody cares about what happened to the rest of the world. I mean I'm pretty sure that the only other country mentioned in the whole of Fallout 3 was China and those were references to a war that we is never really elaborated upon what happened after the nuclear strikes other than something along the lines of "Everything got fucked up" and maybe some foreign characters?

I for one wouldn't like to see a fallout 4, i wish developers would learn when to leave a series to die, im not saying it would be bad but is it worth the risk?

Oh oh oh... how about we take the IP rights from Bethesda and get Tim Cain and his fellas to work on it?

I think that would make a good F4. But if they want to improve it, how about a decent ending and some depth.

guns that dont bread after four bullets, easier ways to get money, more than just twenty skill levels, fixed combat so the VATS and regular combat modes work equaly (I always just run up to enemies and use VATS to aim at their head which I'll have a 90% chance of hitting) and a more varied world other than just lotsa lotsa rocks

Pretty much what Mariena said.

More dialogue options. More ENDINGS, damn it. And the ability to play the game after main quest. In the retail version, not in "maybe future" patch.
easily fixed with a mod.

i would like to see a wider array of weapons, more major settlements (like in fallout 2), being able to join more factions and special quests that fit each character type (f.x. a science character could do some quest that involve chemistry, ecology and ect.)

edit: KamachoMcSagget, getting money was easy (even on hard), just collect scrap metal, nuka-cola quantums and sugar bombs (also, having high repair skill eliminated the need to buy repairs)

I would like to see more choices (take some notes from Fable 2). I didn't really care for Fable 2 all that much but man you could do alot in that game. For an example the blood ties quest. Why was there no option to convince either side to wipe the other off the face of the map? And let us join factions. It seems everyone is fairly organized. Why can't I join a band of Raiders or a group of Wastelanders. I know what is missing! A sense of belonging. Sure you help a place out and they thank you and give you a place to crash (and a robot) but there is no real sense of belonging. You spend the entire game as an outsider.
Well thats sort of the point.
How is that the point? How is giving the player a bunch of meaningless options the point? Why couldn't I join the justice league (the good hunters I can't remember thier name) and really belong with them? Be more than the guy who drops in every few days with a bunch of fingers.

Less Oblivion, more Fallout. That's all.
As in... No Level Scaling, More Dark Humor, Bigger Focus on Dialogue and a better and more well thought out story?
Also, more interesting places, rather than "generic abandoned store" and "abandoned metro station with ghouls and mutants" and "generic abandoned sewers with bandits/raiders" all over the place. Kinda like Oblivion's endless caves, forts, elven ruins and mines.
You found oblivion to be interesting to explore? My god do 3 peaces of different collored paper amuse you?
What? Before you even try to insult me, try proof reading your post first. Can you even read? I compared Oblivion's repetitive locales to Fallout's repetitive locales. The fact that I have to explain this to you says so much.
I am sorry, i missunderstood. I thought that you meant "It should be more interesting to explore, kinda like in oblivion".

(This is going to make me seem like a pyschopath)

Killing children. That adventure into Little Lamplight pissed me off so much, because I knew the easiest thing to do was just remove the mayor and be on my merry way. But he had a magical aversion to bullets.

I can't really blame Bethseda for doing that CYA move, but at that moment I realized how far it had deviated from the original Fallout.

Come to think of it, the dark vices that were all over F2 were non-existant in F3.

Of course, it's never going to be put in nowadays; I'm sure they would get sued before you could say 'Vault Dweller.'
Thaaaaaaaaank yooooooooooooou.

I had so many flow-breaking instances where I'd be picking off town members (Note: Canterbury Commons), and I go to snipe a child - forgetting what happens to children - when it screams and runs away, giving away my position and my immersion.

And yeah, the mission into Little Lamplight left me wanting to rocket-launch the group of tween bastards standing in a circle when you enter.

if you are going to not be able to kill children, then mabye they shouldnt be enemies, when i wiped out a settlement, i couldnt kill the kids, and they just kept running around as enemies for the rest of the game.

i would like to be able to drive a car. and have less weapon degradation, it was just ridiculous how fast it went. also, better voice actors, more of them, and factions. i want more quests, like oblivion

and definitely dont make it an MMO, that would ruin it.

More quests. MORE lvl stages (u known say lvl 1000 lol), more weapons. More diverse character build up e.g. start your own mercinary or raider gang. Tht would be cool.

P.S TUNNEL SNAKES RULE!!!
