Imho, playing it in Hardcore is a reward in itself as Fallout 3 was a joke and pretty much an insult in terms of challange and difficulty to the earlier games.

I dont know what it could be, but I doubt its anything that you can use. I just recently read an article that stated that the game ends, and there is no playing through after the game is over. So when its over its over, you can't continue just start over. So that makes me think its just some fancy name on there website or a different trophy. Maybe its early access to DLC?

I'll start off on Hardcore. It sounds interesting enough (I've wanted a true survival game where you have to eat and drink and such), and I figure that if it ruins the fun for me I can just set it back to a lower difficulty and deal with not getting the reward.

Sounds immersive and challenging...exactly what I'd want out of this game. No doubt I'll be working through this slowly in Hardcore mode on my first playthrough.

Question though, how do you heal limbs?

Probably a "Doctor's bag" or similar item that takes time to use, and therefore isn't going to work during combat. If you don't have one of those (or the skill to use it), you'll have to stumble your way to a doctor to fix you up. This is my assumption, anyhow.

I'm still waiting for games that reward you with better gameplay and more story for completing harder difficulties.

Remember Double Dragon? You couldn't even go past a certain point on Easy. It'd just stop. Halo did well with it's Legendary mode, but not nearly enough.

I'm betting it's an avatar item, so us PC users get fucked over.
Indeed.

Although we do get mods, so there's that.

OT: If its an item of some sort, expect the PC community to have it within 24 hours.

I <3 mods.

If its just an achievement, then meh.

I'm going to play it on Normal at first and then the Hardcore mode. Very excited for New Vegas and I'm curious as to what the "special reward" is.

Yup, along with high levels in Medicine and Science skills. This whole thing is gonna require a fair bit of planning.

So yeah, I have no idea what this special reward could be, unless they're talking about the achievement. I'll probably hit hardcore mode on a second playthrough... or maybe a parallel first play. I'm getting the PC version (purely a financial decision) and the Steamworks DRM means I'll be able to have it on this computer and the laptop at the same time.

I wonder what it might be, perhaps an amazing orbital laser? A missile launcher that fires Vault Boys? Anyways, I hope does of us that do a second run through start to finish on Hardcore can at least get the Achievement or the reward.
wouldnt that make the enemys better at science and shit?

I hope its a bacon gun.

This game really do well in retaking elements from it's predecessors (FO1 & 2) compared to FO3 who went freelance without much investigation on previous games!

They've already practically told us that

You're very likely to die again at the end of the campaign, so a different ending is the most likely if you ask me.

If it is an in-game award, then awesome. I could hardly care less about achievements, but when it comes to optional objectives with actual in-game rewards, I am all over it.

The achievement/trophy list has been leaked for a long time already.

It is indeed an achievement.

I'm hoping for New Game +. JRPG style.

Start the game with everything, basically.
