I haven't watched it in a long time, but to be honest, it always seemed really weird to me anyway :)

Family Guy has been awful for years. I enjoyed their returning season, but after that, it just sucked balls. It's so bad now that it's hard to watch the original seasons and not feel like they are crap too.

Oddly, as Family Guy got worse, American Dad got better. I noticed a few Family Guy-isms floating into American Dad though, and after the Rapture episode, I'm calling it quits on American Dad so I don't get to watch it fall into the abyss too. The Rapture was a perfect ending to the show, and I just don't need to see more.

They make a lot more crappy jokes that have nothing to do with the plot to. Like back in the first couple of sessions the jokes had some continuity to what was happening in the episode. Now it's just, "This is worse that when *celebrity* *did something strange* to another celebrity. It's so boring.

The most true thing ever.

Calumon: Oh so they made the simpsons realistic and in the future?
That is so true it's crazy.

I really REALLY hate Family Guy now. Their best season was the second one then it was downhill from there.

My favourite episode is, and will always be, Da Boom.

Stupid things happen to everyone on the show. It's been weird since the beginning episodes, but lately I find it's been getting unimaginative. They've run out of clevar ways of making Peter look like an idiot, so now he's just a blundering fool. Megan is just a punching bag for any joke that they can't find a punch line for. Brian, the intelligent one, has become an alcoholic mess with more drama in his life than a season of Oprah (A human son... REALLY!?), Lois is the repressed housewife that seems like she wants to go wild but can't because of peter. And Stewie is a gay world dominating baby that has somehow gone 110% against freud's theories of male infants and is trying to make it funny...

I love Family Guy. Although I feel they are about to do what the Simpsons did and go for to long. All their character development is down hill as pointed out. They should finish off soon or everyone will had bad memories when they think about the show.

For me they are finally getting away from the simpsonesque starting point and carving out their own style, fair enough if it is not for you but I personally prefer where they are going and I think it gets funnier with each episode, each to their own though I guess.

OT anyone seen Aqua Teen Hunger Force? I love IT

As everyone has already said, it's happened before, and it's happening again. The characters need to develop in order to stay interesting, and part of that "development" is making Peter more and more inexplicably retarded.

Some favorite scenarios of mine:

I think Family Guy has been going downhill for quite some time now. One of the things I just can't stand is the constant gaying up of Stewie. I don't have anything against anyone who's gay, but I just can't stand what they're doing. Some episodes are funny but I'll pass on most

They're writing to what people have responded to, and that is the quick-gags- and I guess it helps to set up those jokes when all your characters are simplistic to write. Personally, I thought their best episode in awhile was the one where they actually had story-structure and had to find the source of all dirty-jokes or something.

That was the first episode I actually liked in awhile, as opposed to the usual 'few laughs then forget about it' I was used to

I used to love Family Guy, but I couldn't stand season 8. Peter is just an asshole and Brian is turned completely upside down from being the most rational of the family to the most screwed up. The writers also seemed to gravitate away from clever, funny jokes and towards the jokes where two people yell at each other and you get kind of an awkward chuckle afterward. On the other hand, I have not seen later season 8 or any of 9 and I hear that it is far better. Also, the "Multiverse" episode was one of the best ever.

Favorite quote would have to go to Darth Stewie in Blue Harvest as the Millennium Falcon comes in "What the deuce???"

It is an odd one. I used to really like Family Guy but it has kind of lost its way a little. What's the name of that random country singer that appears every so often? Too many unfunny songs for my liking in the show in general to be honest. I think American Dad has really improved though.

Awh, really? I haven't seen that much American Dad, but I've been finding it to be most enjoyable animated show going at the moment.[footnote]Metalocalypse's second season was way below par, and new futurama is really hit and miss. And a lot of miss from what I've seen.[/footnote] I don't want to see it start sucking too!

Totally, in copying the Simpson's formula they've just succeeded in Flanderising all their characters. Like a lot of series it's turned from a labour of love into a job of hate.

Peter still makes me laugh, even in the most recent episodes.
"Peter! What is that?!"
"It's a lion. Last week I asked if I could borrow it, they didn't let me. Went in today with a shotgun, I went right ahead."
"Does it bite?"
"Of course it bites, it's a lion."

The matter-of-fact tone makes it all the better.

I've always prefered American Dad to Family Guy anyways.

If it's gotten weird, can't say, show has always been too heavy on toilet humor and outside references for my liking.

Fav episode? The one where stewey and brian explore alternate realities.
