I have only one major issue with my family, and it's more with my parents, and that's the fact that they have to BACK THE FUCK OFF FROM MY LIFE a bit. I have no problem with them coming and visiting or anything, but the fact is that I'm twenty and they still try to control and treat me like I'm fourteen.

An example: My mom was asking about where I would be living in September, I said I was looking at a place and sent her the kijiji ad. Now, I had already called and gotten information on hydro, electricity, rent, etc. and had already set up a viewing. Today I get an email from my mom with the exact information I had gotten two days ago, as well as a long rant about how I can't afford it with my salary. My major issue here is that they don't trust me to handle my own life, and they feel that they can still tell me how to spend MY money that I make working a job. Not to mention they don't even live in a city, so they don't know what rent rates are like here, so the amount they think I should be paying equals that of a run-down slum. I calmly told my mom that I'll handle the housing situation, but I severely doubt that will stop here.

That kind of attitude just shows a general lack of trust in my ability, and that's what annoys me that most, I've proven to be a very responsible person even in my teen years and yet they still think that my opinions are worthless, and thus I have to ignore their advice, it's created a really hostile situation.

My mom is good, just can be very judging.
My dad is meh, nice but he can be an asshole at times.

Oldest brother is a ****, ditched our family for college the second he could, never communicates with us anymore.
Old sister is good, but lazy
Older brother is good, but is barely home
Young sister is good, but really bossy.

Yes, I have four siblings. Two are at college and one's barely home though.

I get along with my brothers quite well.

I avoid my mother as much as possible.

I don't give a rat's ass about anyone else.

I love how no one realizes how loaded their questions are.

My father's dead, and my mother never got over it. The fun times never stop over here.

Parents have no confidence in me at all, my sister gets along with me fine most of the time but she's a ***** to my mum way too much. My Dad and I are very much alike, but that means we end up annoying each other, and my Mum is kinda a control freak. Neither are very happy most of the time, stressed out generally. Still haven't got around to telling them I'm bi yet either. Huh.

I guess I love them. I don't know really. I think I love them, they're my family after all; but we're not all that close. I don't get all that stuff that as a teenager you're supposed to hate your parents.

I love them, but we have our share of problems. My mother has a range of complexes, some of which seem to have passed onto me. My father has taken a lot of bullshit over the years, and is selfless to the point of making us all feel guilty. My sister is..actually, I can't fault her. She's very unassuming.
Our house is also a terrible mess because of aforementioned problems with my mum. No traditional female figure, my dad works all day and I can't clean the whole house everyday as well as redecorate and renovate.

But they're my family, they've done a lot for me and I love them.

Ahem.

I haven't really "lived at home" for more than 3 months at a time since I turned thirteen, but that was because I went away to boarding school. I now live in Boston with my boyfriend, and I feel getting out of the house at such a young age is half the reason my parents and I get along so well.

I love them both dearly, and they've always taken great care of me. Sure we've had fights, arguments, and general family drama... But who hasn't? I wouldn't trade either of 'em for anything.

I'd be curious about people's ages when they post. I just sort of figure that hating your family is a tween/teen thing.
It really does seem like something kids would say because their mom took away their cell phone or something... I doubt they really mean it, though.

I... pretty much love my entire family. B'awww... but seriously... why not? I mean, my whole life they've given me food and clothes and a place to live... along with this nice computer, taken me to some concerts and a ton of movies. It seems pretty irrational to hate someone that does that kind of stuff and asks for nothing in return. I've pretty much lived the most normal life ever and I've really nothing to complain about.

Love my mum, dad, nan and granddad. My aunties are alright to me, so i don't hate them but I don't like them either. I hate my sister more than I have words for, seriously I could smother her in her sleep. She's foul in every way, a total fuck up and a waster, takes drugs (hard drugs) and is violent and abusive to everyone, especially my mum.

My cousins I am ambivalent about.

Funny you should say this, but my dad actually just went from the middle of a perfectly fine conversation to screaming at me about 5 minutes ago. So yeah I hate my dad. He's an asshole. He's constantly bringing me down with his antiquated opinions and generally shitty attitude towards life. It's not my fault I went to school and he worked the last 30 years in a factory. fuck. If he were dead my life would just rock out so perfectly.

I love both my parents and my older sister. We've gone through some really rough patches in the past but things have ended up very nicely and the four of us now have a wonderful relationship, both with each individual family member and the family as a whole.

Yeah, it really does sound disgustingly ideal and sweet, but that really is how I feel about them and I'm extremely grateful that I am at all able to say that.

It's been about five, six months since I last talked to my father or anyone on his side of the family. It isn't that I have any particular animosity towards them, our relationship just doesn't exist. There are a few people on my Mom's side that annoy me but for the most part I'm much closer to them.
