It's a good movie. Watched it with my father last year because we'd often watch it when I was a kid and it was actually better than I remembered.

Given they haven't released the others (from bail, they aren't on remand for cutting down a tree) I think it'll be along the lines of they coerced an idiot and it's not in the public interest to charge him.
To be fair, the OP didn't mention the adult suspect whom had been arrested at the time (and it seems the second adult suspect was arrested later on). There is a conversation to be had about why people jumped to the conclusion he was the lone culprit; but I think Reddit found that conclusion more entertaining to discuss than reality (because... flogging kids is amusing? I don't know. Reddit is weird).
In the court of public opinion, we use hearsay and conjecture. Those are kinds of evidence.
