He needs to do Icecap Zone. That would silence the naysayers on level of brown and bad music alike, and allow them to just enjoy the graphical facelift.

Man sega is missing a gold mine here, so many fans just want remade and updated versions of the old sonic games. I find it kinda sad, that they try new stuff (but they do fail at it don't get me wrong), but the fans instead of trying to find the good features and hoping sega would keep those and try a few new things. It's mostly "we want a 2.5D sonic game", I remember reading about how they thought the sonic in sonic 4 was "to tall" (I hope that was false though cause that's a sad thing for a "fan" to complain about). But really guys I know most of the newer sonic games had problems one way or another to either make them eh or unplayable but...can't we hope sega can evolve sonic games past 2D to be good?

So is this what Sonic fans do instead of finding a franchise to fawn over that doesn't suck?
Because for the fans that been there since the "Genisis does what Nintendon't", Sonic is their childhood memories. It is like being told to put down your childhood dog because it has lost control of its bowls in its old age.
I'm from the that era of gaming, but I wish sonic games would evolve from 2D to 3D and be good(I mean Sonic Adventure 2 was freaking great if you ask me). And a lot of popular franchises went 3D and did it will, so why can't sonic games. Why does sega need to remake the games from the old over and over, shoot I'm ok if they never go 3D again (games like sonic advance and rush proved they can add stuff and still be fun and 2D, and yes I know that is a contradiction from what I just said) as long as they innovate the games core formula. But like your example says, things from the past will die at some point, so wouldn't you rather it die in peace then trying to dig it's corpse up just to satisfy your own childhood memories?
