Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z (the only three dimensional character in the series)

Mr. Freeze from Batman the Animated Series (even though he appeared twice in the whole series)

Zabuza from Naruto (I did not see his change of heart coming at all!)

Beatrix from Final Fantasy 9 (She was one of my favorite characters, too bad she never permanently joined your party)

Shadow the Hedgehog??
Yes, definitely. The journey to his heroic sacrifice at the end of Sonic Adventure 2 was the backbone of what made that game great!

I have nothing to say about his resurrection and later appearances, but he's still one of my favorite villains-turned-heroes for sure.

Death's mistress, from Sword of Truth. btw, the thread title should probably contain a spoiler warning.

In Code geass I like how (SPOILERS)

Schneizel changed sides especially beacause lelouch beated him and as an added bonus didnt kill him but used geass on him (which is like brainwashin).

The funny thing is that at this poing it isnt really clear who is the villan and who is the hero.

unfortunately i can't think of too many off the top of my head...

but vegeta definitely comes to mind, it's really awesome how he slowly becomes a badass on the hero side.

damn...i'm really drawing a blank here.

Luna (MLP:FIM) and Zuko (Avatar:TLA) are my big ones from Western Cartoons, but I have a few others as well.

Nico Robin and Mr. 2 from One Piece, Gaara and his siblings from Naruto, and Habashira Rui from Eyeshield 21 would about cover Anime characters.

As for video games, I really like Dimitri and the Panda King from the Sly Cooper games (they're my first and third favorite characters in the franchise).

Harry Maybourne from Stargate SG-1 that guy was grade A arsehole to begin with but ended up being a pretty decent guy later on in the series.

Huh. Nobody for Venom? He immediately came to mind when I saw the thread title.

I thought that might have been one of the better examples in nerd-dom. Though, Zuko is probably the best recent example I can think of.

Robin and Franky from One Piece <3
Not really sure if they count as villains. Sure they antagonized the Straw Hats, but the Straw Hats weren't exactly out to do good for the sake of doing good either.

OT: I guess Zuko from avatar.

I'll go for Accelerator from Toaru Majutsu no Index. He goes from having killed at least 10,000 people(most of them clones), to becoming one of the main characters of the protagonists of the series.

Probably Zuko from Avatar: the Last Airbender. I really liked him as a character and he had amazing character development, so while it was expected that he would turn from anti-villain to hero eventually, it was inspiring to watch him take that journey.

I'm guessing there being spoilers is implied?

Viral from Gurren Lagann. Full. F***ing. Stop.

This scene made me want to jump up and shout "Hell The F*** Yea!", unfortunately doing so would have woken up everyone in my house at the time.

Dearka and Yzak from Gundam Seed are tied with Zuko from Avatar for second. Zuko was kind of obvious once you learned more about his backstory but Dearka and Yzak, especially Yzak, could have easily gone either way.
