I'm not sure if there are any that I really like more, but I read 'favorite director' and instantly thought 'Quentin Tarantino.'
So...Yeah. Me being kind of a movies guy, he's the first guy who comes to mind when I think 'favorite.'

Hmmmm, Stanley Kubrick is on the top of my list for sure. Notable mentions are Tarantino of course, Wachowski Bros., Peter Jackson, and Steven Spielberg is pretty decent too I guess :p.

Mine is a three way tie
between Troy Duffy, Tarantino, and Takashi Miike
Really troy duffy? I respect that people like the first Boondock Saints where I didn't care for it but other than that the only other thing he's directed Boondock Saints 2. I never saw it but didnt fans of the first one hate the second one?

I'm going to go with Neil Marshall, just because of how much I liked Doomsday. ^_^

Tarantino and Tim Burton, though Burton was less than immpressive with Alice. He's so great when he does original movies; I just wish he could stick to those more often.
I'm tempted to say Neill Blomkamp, but I'll have to see more to make a decision.

Martin Scorsese would be in my list, and the only one who has a strong record next to James Cameron.

Almost every other director has somewhat screwed up something in their career.

Definitely Stanley Kubrick. Not all of his films are amongst my favourites, but all of them have a 'unique' feeling and are just well made. They also 'feel' like the direction the director took them into added something.

Hayao Miyazaki, because his movies are the only Japanese animation of any kind that I don't utterly despise. In fact, they're some of my favourite movies.

Uwe Boll!

/duck and cover.

Actually, I have to say a young George Lucas. Ever since the body snatching in 1990 the creature referred to as George Lucas has been abysmal.

James Cameron, Quentin Tarantino, M Night Shymalan (sometimes... Sixth Sense was amazing, Lady in the water... not so much)

Stanley Kubrick has got to be my favorite; not only are all of his films of damn high quality, but he also manages to have such a diversity in the genres of his movies, making everything from sci-fi to war movies and drama.
