I have 3 favorite guns. The Lincoln Repeader rifle (The ONLY thing that saved me in Old Oney) The Vengance (Because I like big guns that can drop an entire squad in half a clip) and the Experimental MIRV. For thoes of you who don't know the Experimental MIRV shoots 8 mini nukes at once. (like a shotgun spread, with nukes) Capable of wiping out anything in one shot. (Robots, Attack Squads, Super mutant Behemoths, a small town, anything)

My pick is the extremely humble first weapon you get, the 10mm pistol. For some reason I get a large amount of jolly's when I get that final slow-motion headshot with that thing. Makes me feel like Roland Deschain (Dark Tower reference for any nerdy enough to have read it).

I have not yet used the hunting rifle to its fullest, but judging from what you guys have all said I think i'd better give it a go. You can find the ammo for it bloody everywhere.

My favorite non-equipped has to be Nuka-nades.

EDIT: Eugene is a custom Mini-gun you get when fully repaired a whopping 52 damage per shot!!!

How can one beat killing shambling hordes with an assortment of books and teddy bears? Rock-It Launcher every time. Death through the power of literature!

(Also, I derive a slightly absurd amount of pleasure from the suppressed 10mm pistol. But maybe that's just me.)

Surprised no one has mentioned the Power Fist. That is very enjoyable, especially if you catch a Raider up close. Ooh, the gory goodness.

As for a ranged weapon, I'm partial to the Hunting and/or Sniper Rifle.

Have you found "Fisto!"? I think it's the best unarmed weapon in the game.

Yeah Fisto is in an old power plant.

But I have been reading and so far no one has mentioned:

1: Experimental MIRV - Named Fat Man that is capable of firing 8 mini nukes at once in a spread pattern!
2: Vengence - The named Laser Gattling Gun that is just stupid fun to use.
3: The Break - Its a named pool cue. How can you not find that aswsome?

I like the hunting rifle for 2 reasons:

1: It drops off a lot of raiders/supers, so its easy to keep it in good repair
2: Let the Mutants zip in close, click to vats, head shot 1 kills them in a bloody mess.

Number One is definitely Lincoln's Repeater. It's extremely effective and makes an oh-so-satisfying "ping" sound whenever it fires.
Number Two is the Sniper Rifle because sniping will never become boring for me.
And Number Three is the Railway Rifle. It may kind of suck but I get a warm feeling inside when I nail a charging Raider's head to a wall with a spike. =)

My alien blaster finally ran out of ammo, but I put it in my megaton home right next to my powdered wig and Abe action figure, as for my new favorite weapon it's got to be that androids plasma gun kills most enemies in at least 2 shots using V.A.T.S.
