Hands down: The Baldur's Gate Saga.
Unbeatable.
Especially when you take 1 and 2 plus expansions and combine them into one game using the TUTU MOD and the BG2 engine.
Can someone say over 200 hours of epic rpg? I can.

Man, that's a toughie because it's probably my favorite genre of games and once I get to the point of actually buying an RPG I've generally fiddled it down to only good RPGs being bought.

From a pure nostalgia point of view, I'm going to have to go with Ultima VIII: Pagan. I played that a lot back in the day.

More recently? Mass Effect, with Fallout 3 right on its heels.

Also good ones I have played:

Albion
Jade Empire
Morrowind
Knights of the Old Republic
Ultima Online
Final Fantasy VI
Deus Ex
Oblivion

Shit, I'm sure I'm forgetting some also.

The classics:
- Fallout 1 and 2
- Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 with both expansions
- Planescape: Torment
- Arcanum

The indie:
- Eschalon: Book I

The oddball:
- Stonekeep (1995 by Interplay). This game was an absolute revolution! And here's the sad part: Black Isle Studios worked on a sequel called Stonekeep 2: Godmaker for five years before cancelling it in 2001.

LoZ:OoT/MM/WW, Pokémon, Fallout 3/Oblivion or Final Fantasy 9.
I'm a simple fellow of simple tastes.

Skies of Arcadia.

Not a lot of people played it but it was and still is one of my favorites. It came out on the Dreamcast as it was dying and then had a second wind on the Gamecube. Seriously, pick it up if you ever need some good ol' turn based RPG action. Plus it has airship battles.

I love these 'favourite' threads. There's about 20 every week.
Doesn't stop me replying though.
I liked Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2. Expansive, long hours, not grindy etc. etc.

Ever played Legend of Dragoon on the PS1? It had a combo system, loads of playable characters, a good story and came over three discs. Sort of went under because Final Fantasy VII leered it's spikey blonde head.

Shame I can't find a copy now. Legend of Dragoon is about £80 now I think.

I wanted that game for ages, but I never saw it on sale. Its one of those games which everybody decided to love after it came out, and now the few remaining copies are going for £60 a pop on eBay.
I like how the majority of them are Gamecube games.

Well, Oblivion.

As for others:

Legend of Mana, Chrono Cross, SaGa Frontier, and Final Fantasy 8.
