Pretty self explanatory, why is your favorite video game theme song?
(Feel free to link a video to it for others to enjoy, i would with mine if i knew how)

Personally my favorite theme song would have to be from advent rising, it goes in such a stark contrast to most other songs, and i just found it beautiful.

I will admit that the halo theme songs, particularly for halo two are some of my favorites :)

Hot damn does Persona 4 Arena's theme get me pumped up. It's awesome!

Hell, the Persona games in general just have awesome themes.

"Let me warn you! I don't know how to pull my punches!"

All the character themes in BlazBlue are awesome but fuck it Makoto and Bang's ones are the best. Mu-12 can come too but hers is more dark whereas Makoto's is more cheerful and bouncy and Bang's is just... Manly.

Spoilering it for page space

Oh and most recently the entirety of the Katawa Shoujo soundtrack is AMAZING.

Y'know I should probably get around to doing Rin's route at some point. Then i'd get all guilty for leaving Hanako's route forever closed... Welp i'm just gonna marathon at least Hanako and Lily's route tomorrow. I can't play these sort of games when i'm tired it looks like, I got the super bad ending last night despite actively going to replay Hanako's route again instead of finding other routes... I kinda missed like every flag. Or something. How the fuck? Was it brushing off Lily in that one part where she asks if you're ok? It was I think. Balls!

I didn't even have a back up save! See I stop being a scum and THIS is what happens! I need at least FIFTY back up saves at every decision point dammit!

Also the Ace Attorney and Persona 4 soundtracks are really freaking good. However Katawa Shoujo just overtook Persona 4 as my favourite game soundtrack ever. It's just that good. I'm not going to say it has anything that beats the awesomeness that is Reach Out to the Truth but it comes close.

Hrmm .. old school stuff for me. Toss up between a few though.

1) The Faery Tale Adventure (RPG/Adventure) - the regular map music was a looping harpsichord tune that was very 'ye olde'. There's some awesome metal guitar versions of the battle music too.
AKA "The mental theme music to many games of D&D as a kid".

2) Dune (RPG/Adventure, not the RTS games) - 'Spice Opera' song. But also the 'romance' theme where Paul Artreides takes Chani out into the desert at night.
AKA "The mental theme music to the time a certain girl *ahem* made me a man".

3) Legend of Kyrandia (Adventure) - the 'Caves' section music where you have to hoard little fire berries to get through the dark sections. Basically just a repeating flute tune. For some reason it always made me sad.
AKA "The mental theme music to when a certain girl *ahem* broke my heart".

4) Street Fighter II (Duh) - Closing credits music. Nothing says 'YOU WIN!' like early 90s guitar riffs.
AKA "The mental theme music to any time I successfully complete anything anywhere".

Oh, definitely the end credits theme for Bation:

And here's another fun theme from another game, for the sake of diversity:

A thousand times this. Bastion has one of my favourite soundtracks and the end theme is sublime after playing it through.

My brain is going blank now that you mentioned bastion. damn.

Oh well, guess the Zelda main theme medley from the 25th anniversary symphony is it for me.

Mine is the original Deus Ex, without hesitation. It's not that revolutionary, or that evoking, but at the time the game was released, a truly gripping into song that really tied into the opening visuals was not common, and the energy and force of this one really amped me up for the game.

A close second however is the Donkey Kong Country theme. When it came out for the SNES I was in middle school, and there was something about that soundtrack CD I loved. I can't count the number of nights I would fall asleep with my Sony Walkman CD player in bed looping the entire CD. Up until this time the only genre of music I was really exposed to was Pop music and Country, and it opened my eyes to a wide world of other options that I quickly embraced.

Love the game, love the music. Don't get me wrong, I've loved the music from all the Assassin's Creed games thus far, but there's just something about this that I can't get enough of.

....

It literally has 953 plays on my iTunes.

There's one game theme that, I believe, stands head and shoulders above other game themes.
It just represents the games so well, it's amazing. The original theme is miles better than the unispired korn song from last year...

The theme for Metroid Prime sooooo much. It's not just that the song is incredible, but that it feels alien/organic/futuristic and sets the mood for the game so well.

This too XD

Halo has some of the most incredible music around. Very sublime. It's why I was sad when I heard the soundtrack for halo 4. It was alright I guess, but it just pales in comparison to Marty's work.
