Differently the pocalypse, they have updates multiple times a week, and they have flash instead of small pictures, so they release more per update too.

xkcd would be my favourite but I also enjoy Achewood, Dinosaur Comics, Penny Arcade and some others from time to time.

Dr. Mcninja is the closest I read to a "serious" webcomic. For straight-up humour? Buttersafe.

You know, this [http://buttersafe.com/comics/2010-07-01-BagelsAndDonuts.jpg] sort [http://buttersafe.com/comics/2008-10-23-Detour.jpg] of [http://buttersafe.com/comics/2011-08-04-HeartBurn.jpg] thing [http://buttersafe.com/comics/2010-01-28-TheTragicLifeOfAnnabelle.jpg].

QuestionableContent and Collar6 although when reading the latter I often have the thought "Does this count as porn?".

I'm partial to the following:

Darths and Droids
Square Root of Minus Garfield
Breakfast of the Gods (A bit NSFW)
Jack (VERY NSFW)
Digger
Order of the Stick
Keychain of Creation
Tales of the Questor
VG Cats
Penny Arcade
Awkward Zombie
Doctor McNinja
The Ten Doctors (an excellent Doctor Who fancomic)
Scandinavia and the World (Think Hetalia, but based around the Baltics)
Ozzy and Millie
Dandy and Company
Sinfest
Zap

....and that's all I got right now...

I'll have to go with Achewood. The sheer quality throughout a decade that Onstad put into it is amazing. It started out as just a serial, but the characters were so well developed over time that it's hard not to love all the characters. Except Pat, Pat is a dick.

I follow a LOT of webcomics, but at the minute I'd have to say The Adventures of Dave the Direman is my favourite. Not only is it funny, has decent characters and has Cthulhu in a Hawaiian shirt, but the site also has Everwas. Taken from the short description of Everwas: "For those of you who aren't philosophically inclined to examine life's struggles, Everwas also contains foul language, big boobs, and lesbians."

EDIT: Also Romantically Apocalyptic. It updates once in a blue moon, but when you see it you can tell why each strip takes so long. It's kind of Fallouty, and hilariously funny.

[a href="http://www.sluggy.com"]Sluggy Freelance[/a] one of the oldest and therefore longest running webcomics around. Recently just turned 14 years old. That should provide you with a lot of entertainment, their backlogs go on for quite some time, and range from silly non-serious stories to long branching narratives, all in web comic form. This was a pioneer web comic, paving the way for others that came after it.

[a href="http://www.questionablecontent.net"]Questionable Content[/a]A web comic for indie hipsters, though it's lack of pretentiousness means others can enjoy it as well. The cute and\or perverted robots don't hurt either. Lots of female characters, none of them loose, one has OCD and is ADORABLE. The art style has really evolved over the years, for the better I might add.

I'm sure you've been introduced to vg cats and XKCD, so I won't bother.

One last one, [a href=http://www.weregeek.com]Weregeek[/a], a webcomic about a guy coming to terms and enjoying the fact that he is a geek . . . but he's hunted by a group of anti-geek Hunters who want to destroy Geekdom. Oh, and apparently when he and his friends geek out, they get super powers, though most of them don't know it. Story switches between their lives in the real world, and their other RPG\cos-play games. Cute, funny, and has lots of geek quotes to enjoy.

My own which you should all go out and read.
In all seriousness I like Twisted Kaiju Theater the best. Great fun for any fan of giant monsters and the such. Plus its a photoshop webcomic which is good for some variety in how a webcomic is made.
