I've just given it a 3rd watch through and have come out the other side liking ozymandias,'cause even though his actions are morally reprehensible he's willing to torment himself to save everything, something the other characters don't quite understand.

So Escapistians who is your favourite character and why?

Rorschach.

He's the only one who actually believes in real justice and never stops following it. But because he is the only one who actually stands up for justice all the time, people call him crazy.

Rorschach, purely because he is awesome.
Follows pure justice, willing to die when that is is overruled.

I liked Night Owl 2 the most. But The Comedian was a close second.

See I didn't think he really stood for justice, sure he punished criminals but he acted as their judge, jury and executioner without ever questioning himself... then again I could be reading way to deeply into this :)

The Comedian. He was so interesting and sympathisable and really made me hate myself for loving him. All the others were rather 2 dimensional in their very 3 dimensional way. I know that sounds silly.
After him, Dr. Manhatten for his distancing from humanity.

Obviously, i speak of the book and not the reprehensible movie.

Dr Manhatten because I can identify with his apathy towards humans...

The Comedian second as he's actually interesting to watch...

The Comedian.
Utter asshole with practically no redeeming qualities, no sense of justice, honor, no compassion, just savage brutality and miserability.
Someone I can finally relate to.

Rorschach

a Stone cold vigilante who is never compromised by money or sex.
Plus, he understands that the only way to fight monsters is by becoming a monster.

Who else, Rorschach. Though the question of why is a slightly more difficult question to answer. It's because he views the world as it should be, there's good and there's evil and evil must be punished. Also, he's the only character who reacts to Veidt's plan as a normal person would, with disgust and anger. He realizes that the ends don't always justify the means; especially when the means are the murder of millions of innocent people. The fact that he's a vicious psychopath is another reason why I like him. I've always liked the idea of someone who's more like a predator that eats the other predators. I also enjoy his deontological worldview(morality based on strict rules). "Never compromise, even in the face of Armageddon." -Walter Kovacs

Plus, he threw a super villain down an elevator chute. How can you not live that?

Doc Manhattan.

I find a realistic representation of Superman (the closest thing to a god) much more interesting than a realistic representation of Batman (crazy dude with a mask). They were both very interesting and perhaps the two most important characters so it's a close call.

Rorschach probably had the most awesome scenes though.

Rorschach.
He is actually doing something, he devotes his life in serving justice. And he's just fucking badass.
I liked how in movie he got really mad at the pedophile and decided to kill him instead of arresting. That was when i stopped being bored and started to like the movie.

He did stand for justice in my book. [sub]I say that as an expression, not describing the novel[/sub]
And the way you think of Rorschach is exactly the way everyone else in the comic thinks of him. That he is too hard. But he isn't. He is the one who is just.

Sure, you might say that the better choice was to kill everyone in New York because it saved many others, but was it justice? No.

It's like Rorschach says: "Never compromise, even in the face of Armageddon".

And what about "Battle not with monsters, less you want to become a monster"? That's the whole point of Rorschach. He had to become who he is to fight evil.

The whole chapter in prison with the psychologist is about this.
