Just to be different, Dr Manhattan.
Rorschach was basically the real Batman, which considering the modern hero isn't much of a stretch. An interesting stretch, yes, but for me it's something I'd [i/]almost[/i] seen before.
Dr Manhattan on the other hand is basically the real Superman. A creature so powerful that he's essentially a god. But this only enhanced his alienation and created a character which is one of the most lonely I have ever come across in literature. I felt a great sadness for him. Also, his origin story is my favourite part of the book, and one of the few things about the film which was more than mediocre.
