For a while I have embarked on the journey to find new music, but I have not found any that I have really enjoyed. This is why I am asking all of your for help. I really am looking for something new and exciting. Most of the music that I listen to has become very boring, and that aspect of it is getting old. I need something new, something different. Here are some bands that have really blow me away in the past:

Mindless Self Indulgence
DEVO
Refused
The Dillinger Escape Plan
Any Mike Patton Project
Joy Division

So, people of The Escapist forum, you have free reign to give me any suggestion you wish. If you say that this post has been done before, well, I have not posted it and it is to help me, so therefore it has never been done before.

One final note, I enjoy all types of music, so bring forth all suggestions as long as they are creative and original.

How good are Refused.

Try these:
Parkway Drive
Suicide Silence
A Day to Remember
Bring Me the Horizon
Cancer Bats
Say Anything
Every Time I Die.

Heaps more if you like any of those.
Those are just the bands I've seen live/seeing live in the past 5 months.

I personally enjoy...
Nightwish

Early Metallica (before St. Anger)
Ian Van Dahl
Lordi (but that takes a special taste...)
Van Halen
Dragonforce
Pearl Jam
Queen
Rob Zombie

And a host of others.

I will accept Muse, but Nirvana and Metallica!? Nirvana is horrible (okay, maybe not horrible, but not half as good as people make them out to be) and Metallica during the Black album sucked. At least give me ...And Justice for all or earlier as an example.

Although I already knew Suicide Silence and Every Time I Die, thank you much

Looks like you are wanting something that is easy listening but can be heavier if need be, with electronic elements. In which case I would suggest:

Nine Inch Nails
Scroovius Pip
Ministry
Killing Joke
Opeth

Hope it helps.

Well there's your problem you don't have any 70's in you. I suggest an immediate injectiong of Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and Neil Young, Take 3 CD's or Mothership, The Platinum Collection, and Harvest moon and call me in the morning to thank me.
The main idea of this thread is something new and different. I am already versed in the 70's, in fact I love that time period, I just am looking for a reason to love this decade.

Try Mr. Bungle.
One of my favorite songs is Retrovertigo.

EDIT:
Wait, sorry. I just saw Mike Patton on the original post. I'll look for something else.

EDIT 2:
Ok, I'm back with more suggestions.
Apocalyptica
Bad Acid Trip
Daath
Devin Townsend
Fredrik Thordendal's Special Defects
Kamelot
Mastodon
Tool

Try Boston.

Every other person who I've recommended them to said they thought they were fantastic.

... I'm sorry what? Nirvana fucking put grunge on the map and changed the musical landscape forever, I'll let you say you dislike them but they are not horrible. Metallica really started only "Bad Albums" (The only albums I own of theirs is AJFA) are Load/Reload and St. Anger. The Black Album put them on the map and was filled with tons of great songs, and The Unforgiven is just such a heartfelt tale that holds me every time I listen to it. I admit making two sequel songs was stupid, but don't be one of the haters that hate the Black Album because it wasn't constant thrash riffs (Which is a not true as Metallica has done Ballads before with Fade to Black, Sanitarium and One).
For the record, I corrected myself in my original post saying that Nirvana was not horrible! Actually the album that put Metallica on the map was ...And Justice For All because of One.

To be honest, I do not hate the Black Album, in fact I view it as their last album. I am not a big fan of it, but I do not hate it. I have never said that it has anything to do with ballads, because Metallica has done plenty for that, but for some reason people forget about them. I guess that just proves that people are stupid.

Metallica (Happy now?)

System of a Down

Pearl Jam
Love System of a Down, much better Metallica choice, I prefer Animal over black and Jeremy, but still, well done.

Wow, that sounded condescending, it really wasn't meant to be

Good luck, when you're done I have a rock you can try to squeeze some water out of.
I hate you so much for that comment, because it made me really laugh my ass off. I know the bleak outlook seems valid, but I really am trying to have some faith. I don't know why, I am normally such a cynical person.

Quite frankly, the way this forum goes about itself, I would be surprised if anything on this list is liked:

Cunninlynguists

Flobots

K'Naan

The Fray

Dave Brubeck

Fleetwood Mac

Skindred

Let me know if any of it interests you.

Well Master of Puppets was their first Billboard top 20 hit, but who are we to judge.

And dude, we are on the internet. How do we not know people are stupid.
Touche, Damn it!
