If you like the music from the Matrix, you could try Juno Reactor (except the newest album), It's techno with a bit of everything, from aboriginal to western feels.

Quite frankly, the way this forum goes about itself, I would be surprised if anything on this list is liked:

Cunninlynguists

Flobots

K'Naan

The Fray

Dave Brubeck

Fleetwood Mac

Skindred

Let me know if any of it interests you.
Cunninlynguists: They sound a lot like Fleetwood Mac, seriously though I looked them up on Youtube, they are not bad, I like them

Flobots: Not bad, I had only heard handlebars and it is not good as what you posted.

K'Naan: Not a fan of his voice, kind of got on my nerves.

I really do like rap that is a little different. I love MF Doom (and all of his alter egos) and Del tha Funky Homosapian

The Fray is Okay

Dave Brubeck is awesome, so is Fleetwood Mac

Skindred: I had heard of them before, but did not think they sounded like that. I will have to check them out some more.

Nirvana
Muse

Metallica
I will accept Muse, but Nirvana and Metallica!? Nirvana is horrible (okay, maybe not horrible, but not half as good as people make them out to be) and Metallica during the Black album sucked. At least give me ...And Justice for all or earlier as an example.
... I'm sorry what? Nirvana fucking put grunge on the map and changed the musical landscape forever, I'll let you say you dislike them but they are not horrible. Metallica really started only "Bad Albums" (The only albums I own of theirs is AJFA) are Load/Reload and St. Anger. The Black Album put them on the map and was filled with tons of great songs, and The Unforgiven is just such a heartfelt tale that holds me every time I listen to it. I admit making two sequel songs was stupid, but don't be one of the haters that hate the Black Album because it wasn't constant thrash riffs (Which is a not true as Metallica has done Ballads before with Fade to Black, Sanitarium and One).
For the record, I corrected myself in my original post saying that Nirvana was not horrible! Actually the album that put Metallica on the map was ...And Justice For All because of One.

To be honest, I do not hate the Black Album, in fact I view it as their last album. I am not a big fan of it, but I do not hate it. I have never said that it has anything to do with ballads, because Metallica has done plenty for that, but for some reason people forget about them. I guess that just proves that people are stupid.
Wait so Blackened wasn't on A.J.F.A.? I also suppose A.J.F.A. the song wasn't on the album neither was To Live Is To Die. Also to your other post I hate you to.
What!? Is this rant directed at me? I never said anything against A.J.F.A. I love Blackened, it is one of my favorite Metallica songs. What is going on here?

Where's 'Alive'? or are we going for the lesser known tracks?
Lesser known, though I find those two much more touching and better as actual songs than Alive.
See you are just making bad choices all around NoMoreSanity. No one is happy with your selections. J/K

Okay, you gonna be the one I commit Redrum on next punk?

You pretty much said that One put Metallica on the map and that is wrong.
Yeah, I know that, and I was very, horrible wrong. I really don't know what got into myself back there. Seriously, it may sound sarcastic, but I am very disappointed with myself.

if you're willing to spend some money, find out about some local bands and go see their shows.

Most of the time they're kickass

See, I live in Delaware and there is no music scene. The local bands around here either suck, or I have been a part of them at some time or another.

For a while I have embarked on the journey to find new music, but I have not found any that I have really enjoyed. This is why I am asking all of your for help. I really am looking for something new and exciting. Most of the music that I listen to has become very boring, and that aspect of it is getting old. I need something new, something different. Here are some bands that have really blow me away in the past:

Mindless Self Indulgence
DEVO
Refused
The Dillinger Escape Plan
Any Mike Patton Project
Joy Division

So, people of The Escapist forum, you have free reign to give me any suggestion you wish. If you say that this post has been done before, well, I have not posted it and it is to help me, so therefore it has never been done before.

One final note, I enjoy all types of music, so bring forth all suggestions as long as they are creative and original.
I quite liked refused.

You should listen to a few songs by:
Pendulum
Anberlin; Album- Never take friendship personal
Scary kids scaring kids; Album- Scary kids scaring kids
A skylit drive.; Album- Wires... and the concept of breathing

Glad to hear someone else likes Refused. The Shape of Punk to Come is one of my favorite albums. Slam by Pendulum was pretty cool, not too big on the others thought, but thanks.

Pink Floyd is great

NIN is great, I love the Fragile, one of the best albums to listen to straight through
Mr. Bungle is really cool, but so is everything with Mike Patton
Type O Negative: I haven't listened to them in years. Maybe I should take out their old albums. I do still love Kill All The White People.

I absolutely love KMFDM!!!

As for Gorillaz, they should have never stopped working with Dan the Automator!

Empire of the sun.. They have a newer album with that sounds like it was made in the 1970's. It very different.
