Gypsy Punk: Gogol Bordello and Kultur Shock
Prog Metal: Tool, Karnivool, Porcupine Tree
Indie: Death cab for Cutie
I also really like Marakesh' Saint Valentine EP (the ones who sing Jdat from Vladivostok FM from GTA4; can be legally and freely downloaded from rapidshare - they posted it up)
Subscribe (Hungarian band)

I know more, I just forgot them at the mo.

My favorite bands ever
Death Cab For Cutie,
Motion City Soundtrack.
They are some of the greatest bands I have ever heard, but I will list a few more

The Postal Service
The Long Winters
The Corona's
Frightend Rabbit
Counting Crows
Snow Patrol
Sigur Ros
The Frames
Editors
Faker

That's all I have for you at the moment, but there is plenty there to chose from, I'll be suprised if you don't like even one of them.

If you want to explore the more punky side of it, try The Flatliners [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dleB2PA1U-A] or A Wilhelm Scream [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSCX_vuRDWc]. The Flatliners is the only 'hard' band that's soft enough for me to listen to when I'm trying to relax and A Wilhelm Scream has lyrics and guitar riffs that'd make Einsteins brain explode.
