What I'm saying is that they initially seemed to be aware of it and didn't want to do anything about it because they were within their right to use it due to fair use, and now they take a 180 on it, suddenly stating that they didn't know. The Escapist ran a news story about it but a few days ago.
It's always tricky to nail down who knew what and when they knew it, but in the absence of actual evidence suggesting that the FF guys willfully dodged Gray's efforts to contact them, I think we have to take them at their word. There's quite often behind-the-scenes stuff going on that "we" never hear about, and that can sometimes lead to the appearance of skewed timelines.

No I would not guess what that term is, but I do think that the blanket term for gamer just doesn't work anymore when say, a Car Enthusiast and Gun Enthusiast do more then simply own a gun and a car.
Never heard the term "casual gamer"? My problem is exactly that you keep using the blank term.

Also: Who is the protagonist(s) of Batman: Arkham Asylum?

Fake gamer girl bullshit? Really?

No one has to prove they are a gamer. No one. Not even Anita Sarkeesian.

None of the videos you post mean anything, because she (and other female gamers) don't have to prove a damn thing to you.

I could comment further, but I might say something mean, and you aren't worth a forum warning.

Edit: Although, I gotta say, your Sean Connery avatar is... very appropriate.
This post seems a bit overly defensive...
Lets look at it this way, I don't enjoy games at all, find it kinda boring actually.

No wait, I do like games, always have, best thing ever.

Disregard my previous statement and just pretend I never said it.

Would you trust a person saying this?
I certainly wouldn't, seems a bit dishonest and manipulative doesn't it?

OT: Meh, I don't really get why people have to turn into drama queens whenever she is mentioned.
Best way would be to just ignore her.

There is sexism in games, they need to be talked about, and I went in without making any presumptions about Sarkeesian. But when Anita classified Bastion's Zia as a damsel-in-distress, I started doubting whether she actually plays through the games she critiques. When news surfaced that she used other people's LP in her video (along with the one ShakeSilver posted), it neatly fit into my doubts.

The fact is, if you aren't a life-long gamer, it's not going to be feasible to play a bunch of games in a reasonable period of time to critique them (games take much longer to consume). And game enthusiasts, like any kind of enthusiasts, are an elitist lot. If you make a list of the most beautiful cars ever made, and you're not familiar with classics like the Jaguar E Type, Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale or Porsche 917, car people are gonna chew you out. If you want to critique movies, you need to watch classics that will provide you with context on what is being borrowed and referenced from genre-definers. You can't criticize from a vacuum.

Unfortunately, my views were shared by some rather... toxic folks. I tried to stay away from criticizing her lest I aligned myself to some real misogynists (I would have never wished the online abuse upon her that she received). I was actually a bit glad that she got all those funding, since it infuriated some real assholes.

Plus, Sarkeesian is rather... dry. It's like she's doing a audiobook of TV Tropes. Cara Ellison are so much more fun.

I'm just saying how it looked. I'm sorry you take offense to that observation.
I am sure you are. It seems like you are pretty often sorry for the behavior of people other than you when you have an opportunity to be sorry for what you have done.

The Lunatic said:
And yes, I think paying for services is pretty clear cut and absolute.
Then why did you dismiss the free samples- and elevator holding-examples, if it's so absolute?

The Lunatic said:
I have said this a few times. If you're not quite getting that, I can't really help you with further explanation.
I think I made it pretty clear that my complaint is with your attempt to claim some sort of moral authority you haven't earned, not with the concept of paying people for art.

ShakerSilver said:
Prior to this, there's evidence that states that she didn't care for video games at all.
I don't care for Arkham Horror, but I still keep playing it because the rotten little fuckbag of a game does not get to win sorry. Bit of residual fury there. Not aimed at you.

Scammer and dirty liar, busted again.
I assume you have proof that the image was taken from Google and not from the website the official statement referenced.

You need to start quoting.

I'm fully aware that there is a reasonable debate about the meaning of the word, but until there is a clear definition, we go with the simplest.

Batman, and to some extent Bane. Kind of. At least I saw him as kind of a Protagonist. Also depending on your viewpoint, and game purchased. Joker.
You forgot one very important protagonist. Can you guess?

Oh. And what was "the website the official statement referenced?"
How the hell would I know? I read the same statement you did.

Sonichu said:
Those (unnamed) "many video game sites and forums" don't exist, because it apparently wasn't ever used anywhere but on Tammy's art blog.
The claim you have just made is both massive and essentially unprovable, which leads me to wonder why you would make it except to justify a preexisting judgment.

Sonichu said:
I just checked at http://saucenao.com/ - no results for "many video game sites and forums." What now?
I am unfamiliar with that website, but I assume it's some sort of search engine for images. Your argument seems to be, "I have looked in two places and haven't found the image, so I'm right." I don't buy it. You've taken an enormous burden of proof on yourself, and I am not inclined to be permissive of your attempts to assert an absence of evidence as evidence of absence. It may well be that Ms. Sarkeesian's statement is a lie, but I have seen only assumptions and inferences, not evidence.

Despite my disagreements with her stance on sexism in video games and other things in general

Good for Anita for taking down the problem and apologizing!

Cool, so go and show me any of those "many" (as in: "used on many video game sites and forums without proper attribution to the artist and without indication that it is fan art").
The ones I've already said I have no more information about than you? Please. I am not Ms. Sarkeesian's advocate or defender, and I do not choose to spend my time searching for evidence of a claim I've never made. My only objection, which I think I've made four times now and I am running out of ways to rephrase, is that you are claiming something unprovable to be fact, thereby putting a burden on the community (rather than the person you are accusing, who is almost definitely not reading this forum to respond herself) to disprove your position rather than accepting a burden on yourself to prove it. That is a dirty tactic, and one that I feel compelled to condemn.

Sonichu said:
By the way, you can go and ask for what were these "many" (or "any") websites and forums on their Facebook. Then see how they quickly remove your post and block you for asking inconvenient questions. Seriously, please do it.
I do not use Facebook, nor have a Facebook account. Facebook's policies creep me out, and I find the way people change after joining that site to be unsettling. Your request is no enticement for me to change my mind.

Ha ha. What are you doing here?
That she benefits from my argument (to the degree that anyone is capable of benefiting from an argument they never hear) is a side effect so incidental it means basically nothing to me. I'd be just as annoyed at your dishonest and manipulative tactics if they were being used to argue against Adolf Hitler.

Sonichu said:
I've also never seen it before. You haven't either.
Yes, I have never seen a thing I've never gone looking for, an image of a game I've never played and have no interest in. I have also never seen an image of a Malaysian soccer match, but that gives me no basis to call someone who claims to have seen one a liar.
