Oh of course, different strokes, different folks. I just was afraid you were one of those People who... had a bad experiance and thought that was the franchise as a whole.

Although I have to Disagree with boring Gameplay, you can beat up dudes in a hot rod sorry it may be corny but it's Corny AWESOME! But yeah I hope I didn't come of as a "GLORIOUS NIPPON IS GLORIOUS" kind of person definitly wasn't aiming for that.

Still if you ever DO get time, trying the demo out doesn't kill.

There are worse choices you could mak- ALONE IN THE DARK: INFERNO! yeah...
Nah, you seem cool. But a lot of FF fans do take it personal when people don't like it.
If I do get time, I might try it out. But I doubt I will, and I doubt I'll get time. RL and gamerlife is busy these days.

Are we supposed to know who hooks up with each other already?
i don't think it matters. usually within the time it takes to look at the back, you can tell who will hook up with who, and if you can't tell, play one of there games for about 20-30 minutes(short time compared to how long these games get.) in that time span, you can usually tell.

I can speak Japanese and they really don't say anything important so you're not missing anything. It's all very cookie cutter anime stuff, probably because Square doesn't want to give away the plot.
I'm sorry, but to me, it looks like it has the making for a really, really epic anime-type story. I mean, the emotional depth of Sailor Moon, or Tenchi Muyo, or Wolf's Rain or...
*smacks inner fangirl unconciou with the bike from the cutscene*

Well, it looks to me that it will be very anime-ey, but in the way that you don't have to be an otaku to enjoy.
Personally, looking at this, I think I'll really enjoy this game.

Fuck...I need to get a PS3 now don't I....god dammit *prays for PS3slim as a Christmas present....or enough Christmas money FOR one*
Relax, it's coming our for the 360, too. :D
Oh I know it is, I am just more drawn to the PS3, 360 has lost most of it's appeal to me. Now if you will excuse me I have to get back to my random cursing at the Sony and the gaming industry for trying to ring my wallet dry this year.

In this one they just make it easier because the opening cutscene is Serah and Snow talking about how they are getting married.

THEN we get to the game. So it seems all relationships are established before the game begins. Which is... sorta a first (For them) I think it was done before.

Though if my Japanese melodrama senses are telling me anything then Lightning was vying for Snows affections with her sister and her sister dying mid game (BLATANT!) Is going to open up mthere relationship.

Hope I'm wrong because it's over used.
the only way ti could be more blatant is if is if the person who dies(serah?) was the group's summoner.(you all know there will be one.)

I like how the romantic focus doesn't seem to involve Lightning directly
Honestly, I would probably get this anyway because I'm a shameless FF fan, it looks gorgeous, and I really think the transformer!summons are awesome... but THIS is the main thing I loved about the trailer. I couldn't put my finger on it until just now, but YES. Not only is the main hero a girl, not only is she clearly kick-arse, but she also isn't the focus of the romantic plot (as far as we can tell from this, which I'll admit isn't particularly far). Just in terms of going against the standard boy-meets-girl-saves-world plot, this is kind of refreshing!

am looking forward to this, just hoping that the battle system works. my experience in 12 was as such,
set all other chars gambits to:

1. hit what i'm aiming at.
2. if health low, heal.
3. if doing nothing, cast all buffs.

with this, i walked over all the regular fights, bosses, marks and espers.

this combat system looks like there could be some much needed depth.

They translated it. Now I feel it makes less sense tbh.

All of the main characters are l'Cie, they've all been marked by the fal'Cie (the creators of Cacoon and sort of demi-gods) to bring an end to the world of sorts. I think that's what enables them to summon. I remember a trailer when they were all hit by some sort of tendrils in the spot where a quasi-tattoo is on their bodies, that shines when they summon. Snow has one on his arm that shines when he summons Shiva and Lightning pulls a crystal from her chest to summon Odin. I think the bandage on Serrah's arm was there to cover her mark, since the l'Cie are killed on Cacoon.

I'm quite certain that you are wrong there, Lightning doesn't care much for Snow, she doesn't think he's right for her sister. Since they're parents are dead, Lightning has taken on a mother role on protecting Serrah.

I'll give squenix props, people have asked for a change in the FF summons and they delievered. So what if shiva is a motorcycle and (my guess only ) ifrit is a racecar, at least its variation, and very pretty ones at that as well
