Final Fantasy XIII Will Use 100% of PS3's Power

100% will barely make a difference from 50%, no one will even notice the difference. Besides, Uncharted used 33% of the ps3's raw power and it had amazing graphics. Then Uncharted 2 got announced that it's going to use 100% and yet there's barely an improvement.

Gonna be able to fry eggs on my 360 when it's running this. And by "this," I mean disc 1 of 10 that the game will come on.
You certainly can't see it, but I laughed.

It will be interesting either way. I could care less about the number of discs though.

Where the hell is Mazty?

Anyone got bets how many discs this will take for 360?
Well considering a Blu Ray disc usually got filled with Pre-rendered cutscenes (e.g. Resistance) and FFXIII will no doubt have an arse load of these, I would say at least 2, perhaps 3, we shall see.

Not like it matters though. People really shouldn't try and use this as gloating fodder unless something was cut out.

Just one thing.. How many times did someone claim to have used the PS2 to its full potential, only to see someone else push it even further? lets just wait and see..

hmmm, i usually purchase the 360 version of games as they are usually IMO better and i am an achievement whore... not to mention online but if I find out later in development that the ps3 version is superior I'll get it for PS3

Oh their will be more than that, Lost Odyssey alone had 4 or so, and that game was not that beautiful to look at. And with how long FF games are, I'm expecting 5-7. Maybe I'm just pessimistic though.
I was being overly optimistic. It doesn't matter either way though, as it won't really impact the gaming experience much in my eyes. If I'm honest I just want the thing on PC, and Square striking a deal with Valve gives me that hope...

Optimism and games rarely go together. I'm not even going to buy this, just rent it when it comes out.
I hope wherever you rent this game from does monthly rentals, because no way in hell are you going to finish it in, how many days can you rent games for? (I'm surprised people still rent games actually, most of the Blockbuster Video shops in Britain are shut down)

How about they put all of that power into making a fighting system that doesn't suck?
Silly allusions to Dragonball Z (We are only using a fraction of the PS3's true power! Bwahahahaha!)
I rofl'd when I read that

wasn't Metal Gear Solid 4 and Killzone 2 supposed to push the PS3 to the limit?
Refer to this.

I don't know what's going to happen, but this is obviously the making of the hype machine.

I'll give Squeenix the benefit of the doubt, but I'm pinching alot of grains of salt. I'll believe them once I see more gameplay footage than the one in the trailer (if there is more PLEASE LINK IT!!!!!!!)

Please, Sony have been hopelessly trying to get some groundbreaking games on it and after the completely disappointing Killzone 2, LAIR and MGS4 its only got this to redeem itself, and I am ready to see it flop.

plus why are people going on about the graphics? i've seen equal graphics on Dead or Alive 4, and if they are super graphics like they say then its going to lag like no one buisness.
If I remember correctly, both MGS4 and Killzone 2 had many reviewers praising graphics as best at the time when they were out. You might think Killzone 2 is just another generic shooter and MGS4 a mess of a story with too much cinematics, but graphics is one thing you cannot call in question.

I was never into Final Fantasy, but I'll check this out, if for nothing else, then to see those cinematics, those that are available look extremely beautiful.

I just hope I like the gameplay.

Hmmm big difference between using 100% and using 100% efficiently. even if they did tap 100% of the power does not necessarily mean that it is using that 100% for all the right reasons.

Either way it goes the game looks good and I hope it turns out really good.

The graphics and processor usage could be 10% for all I care as long as the story is good and the gameplay is fun and smooth. Graphics are just icing on the cake.

And even further - who says this isn't bollocks? The correct statement would have been 'We've been pushing the PS3 as far as we could', which doesn't say it's at its limits. Anyone who's seen, say, Persona 4, will agree that pushing a console to its limits takes a lot of time.
It might be the Ps3's limits concerning what can be done using 'normal' coding - but that isn't to say we won't be seeing more optimizations in the future. which is what I place my bet on.
So true. To say we've reached 100% of what is possible 2 years into a console life is bit arrogant. This kinda of says to me they were lazy and didn't need to program creatively. To say they are using 100% of the PS3 capabilities would imply the same game couldn't run on the 360.

I haven't heard of any cuts. Okay, it may be loads of discs but essentially it's the same game.

I have a PS3 only, I'll buy the game but if it isn't bettered before I'm done with the console i'll eat my Seahawks Cap.

personally i wouldn't want this to use 100% of the power. If the game hits a small error then it can fuck up everything as the PS3 already has all its' resources used up, which could just make things take longer.
