Final Fantasy XIV Not Coming to 360s Because of Xbox Live

Microsoft and their closed systems. That's why they don't have a web browser in their consoles, either - absolutely terrible, I know, but nonetheless indicative of a larger problem.
All of this gives Sony a distinct leg-up in the console wars, most notably now that they're bringing Steamworks (!) to their platform via Portal 2, something that will never happen due to Microsoft's aforementioned "closed system". Hopefully this (or something similar) will make a big enough splash that will force MS to reevaluate.

Great. The less Final Fantasy on one of the consoles of my choice the better. While it would be swell to see Microsoft do something more with Live to answer the whole Steam on PS3 thing, I am happy with what they are doing.

I bought Final Fantasy XIII in the hopes of it not being awful. Ooooohh boy, was I wrong. I am amazed I survived for as long as I did (just after Bart... what's his name? Bartholomew? No, Barthandalus, I think). Of course, at that point I was ready to push that damned Hope-dude off a cliff hoping (o-ho-ho) that Vanille would toss herself along with him (and all their combined clichés... JESUS CHRIST, everyone spoke in clichés in this game).
Uh, where was I going with this? Ah, yes. Right. I saw the trailers, and people told me this was going to be a "great game"... suffice to say, it was really, really, really awful. And in buying it, I doomed myself to probably never like Final Fantasy again.
Thus I don't really care that a Final Fantasy game isn't coming to the Xbox 360. I'm quite content playing -actual- RPGs that are, in fact, GOOD (like Dragon Age).

What is With Microsoft, the XBox, and offing MMO's? Even before Champions online, they had an MMO in development - what would have been the first 'true console MMORPG' given the Phantasy Star Online versions were more MORPG's. Certainly the first ever 'traditional' console MMORPG (has there even been one of those on a dedicated platform yet?). They had people making it for them, and them alone, and they Still squabbled the project into oblivion.

So... lemme get this straight. Valve is going multiplatform. Bungie is going multiplatform and isn't making more Halo games for the forseeable future. And Square-Enix's next big title is not going to be on the 360.

Well Squeenix has always preferred Sony over everyone else since the days of the NES, so that's not a real surprise. Besides, I've tried MMOs on console, and it's never as good as playing on the PC.
Well after reading other reviews, watching gameplay reviews and having a whirl on it on my mates 360 I agree makes me glad I'm still playing 12 on the ps2, think they hit the nail on the head with that one in terms of gameplay. kinda like they did with ff9.JourneyThroughHell said:

I'm not sure why you mention Valve and Bungie going multiplatform, since both have been devloping for a variety of platforms for awhile now. Valve has been developing games mostly for computer and when the Orange Box was released it was for PC/360/PS3.poiuppx said:
Bungie isn't just Halo ether. They actually made a third person shooter called Oni that was released for the PS2 and PC.
What the Xbox has going for it, are games like Crackdown 2, Mass Effect 3 (also for PC), Halo Reach and its new motion control system Kinect.
In response to the news article however, I don't really care. Playing MMO's on my console never interested me, but I guess it's a shame Microsoft isn't willing to be more flexible.
I don't get something, people ***** that there is a chance they might have to pay a sub fee for COD after paying for XBL, but then they ***** that they don't get a chance to pay a sub fee for FF XIV after paying for XBL.
Really, Microsoft isn't going to be hurt by this. Square/Enix has almost lost all the goodwill they had from the90s-00's by making subpar games. Sure there will be the dedicated "All Japanese stuff is great! Chibi! Otaku! Kawai! (I have no idea what this stuff means lol)" that will by it for the loli that you know they'll put in the game, but the people that really are dedicated to RPG's or MMO's won't spend the money on what will be a dumbed down "My first RPG MMO".
Square will make a fortune on microtransactions from the few who play it so they can make their perfect androgynous character, but I don't see any other people who host the game or whatever making enough for it to matter.
