It's funny because I'm only 23, my first game and gaming system are far older than I am. But I think it worked out for the best as I have a appriciation now for games, that were long before my time.

My sister, when I was about 4, got an NES system for her birthday (I think), and it came with the standard Super Mario/Duck Hunt cart.

Interesting to note, though, is that the first gift my mom gave my dad was an Atari 2600.

My first video game experience was the almighty classic. Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Still never made it past the eighth world.

I can't remember what I played first... I know we had both an Atari 2600 and and NES. I loved both.

Had around 20+ games for the Atari, and a handful for the NES.

I'll just list my earliest favs:

I got a C64 with both tape AND disc drive and a copy of stunt car racer. Well, I got about 5 games but that one is the only one from the first batch that I really played.

It was SO awesome!

Mega Drive with Sonic 1 and Streets of Rage I think. Either that or it was one of those 3 in 1 affairs.

I used to love the desert strike games, I miss them I had nuclear strike on the ps1 and they stopped making them

Edit: actually come to think of it, one of those old atari style clones with pong etc on it, from a carboot sale (a fleamarket, for the americans) but my first real console was the above.

The first console I played was my dads Genesis, and the first game I played for that was probably Sonic the Hedgehog, but the first game I had ever played was Quake on the PC.
