People suing over seeing people naked in their own homes, People suing people for looking at them funny, and suing people that have something that has a slight resemblance to yours.

Where is all this greed coming from? Probably the economy.

Hmmm... Why can't i get weird al yankovic's song 'I'll sue ya' out of my head? But seriously, the world is more or less build to some degree on plagiarism, but this sounds like Nintendo has indeed blatantly ripped off their idea.

never mind the litigation culture, how the hell did those patents get issued?

"Have a computer show you instructions for exercise while having a way of controlling the computer"

and

"use scales while working out"

does the american patent office actually bother reading applications? what happened to not granting obvious or intuitive applications.

Nintendo's been dealing with lawsuits for ages now. There's a story of their epic legal victory over Universal Studios back in the day, and they've been racking up legal win after legal win ever since. These IA Labs people seem to be looking for a payoff (considering that they're bringing this lawsuit at this stage of Wii Fit's lifespan), and I'm honestly not expecting them to get one.

Hahah god damn this patent system is so fucking moronic. They patented measuring exercise with any kind of computer. Hilarious!

Seriously?
It doesn't make any sense.
The thing they say they have a patent over is so vague that it could even go back to that one game that game Sony had on the Playstation 2 a while back and a regular bathroom scale!

They wont win.
All they are doing is wasting the courts time on a really stupid matter.

Oh, they're not doing this to make nintendo stop using anything. This is not what these are for. All these sues, including the apple Vs google one, are about trying to get some money out of other people.

They are sueing over an interactive force meter? Really!? Its so vague of a description that they can just barely sue and there is no way that they will win.

I hope the company has a fun time trying to win a suit against Nintendo. This will not end well for them

Is there even a point to suing such a large well known world wide company over a patent if your version of the product isn't even known or used? I mean you're just going to lose?

Nintendo has enough money to settle sure, but they'll just keep them tied up in court until they win/drain the other company of funds to fuel the lawsuit. This is dumb. If it was such a big deal they should have sued before the Wii and Wiifit, Plus became the must have casual gaming combo.

As much as I think those Wii Fit games are pointless, I hate patent trolling even more.
By the way, I patent the letters A, E, I, O, and U. Any unauthorized use will result in a lawsuit. Escapist Magazine, for your 6 infractions in your title alone my lawyer will be contacting you.
Actually you need to do the math EscApIst mAgAzInE COUNT THE CAPITAL LETTERS AND TELL ME WHAT THEY HAVE IN COMMON!!! DO IT!!! DO IT NAOW!!!

you relize everyone sues years after the product has been realsed, besides nintendo always comes out one top
They aren't really violating copyright until they release said product. Plus, there wouldn't be much point in suing over an unsuccessful product, not that Nintendo knows how to make those kind.

I have no problem with this lawsuit. If the company had proper patents, and they were damaged by nintendo's actions, then Nintendo owes them money.

The only lawsuits I dislike are frivolous ones, where no real damage (to a person or their livelihood) was done.

If this really caused damage to the company's bottom line, and they held proper patents for the technology, more power to them.

1) Why can't they make their own products, then get sued by Nintendo and then show that they had the patents in 2007?

2) Why are they sueing a Japanese company and Shigeru Miyamoto?! He made Donkey Kong and Mario man. You think he went all the way to Maryland to copy your stupid patents?

3) You should be ashamed of yourselves

Consider how many law suits that Nintendo probably pays to keep out of court, and we hardly ever hear about those. In any event, it's always possible that Nintendo did take certain liberties with technology they might have had access to. Just because someone wins a law suit doesn't mean they didn't do anything wrong. They just had better lawyers... or could dispute evidence.
But I agree with most, I'm getting a little bored of reading these law suits about technology. You don't want someone to steal your toys, then I suggest you not make them so easy to rip off.
