Apology accepted.
Then stop complaining and wait for the next generation.
It's hardly complaining to say that I want what I want. You're calling me a whiner because I dare question the almighty Sony?
Not to be insulting, but people tend to label others with opposing veiwpoints as "complainers." That's a misuse of the word, and it irritates me.
I'm not a COMPLAINER, I'm just voicing my veiwpoint.
Nintendo handhelds have hardly done anything to the buttons. You can play GBA games on a DS but not DS games on a GBA game because it doesn't work like that. Similarly, if Sony all of a sudden introduced a PSP with two nubs in the middle of all of this, you would not be able to play PSP2 games on a PSP1. Please tell me, unless for some reason Sony is trying to phase out the current PSPs, how would it make any sense to all of a sudden include what would basically be a brand new handheld?
You have just said what I've been saying this whole time. Clearly there has been some sort of misunderstanding somewhere
What I was hoping for WAS the phasing out of the first PSP: I was hoping that the PSP Go announcement was going to be the PSP2.
1. It's not a console, though that probably doesn't matter.
You're being nitpicky for no good reason. Anger fills me when I read this line, because you obviously know what I meant.
2. How does it make any sense to isolate 50 million users in the middle of the generation because they don't want to upgrade? Sony would need to slowly fade out the PSP just like Nintendo did with the GBA when the DS came along. Shoving out a completely new PSP, while there's still plenty of potential customers, with plenty of games being released, with plenty of buyers still out there, putting up what would basically make it 3 handhelds on the market would not be a smart move.
What? So what you're saying is that we'll never have another new handheld, because the risk of releasing one would be too great?
Ok, I'm still bitter about the nitpick. Three things here:
1) Why would people get a PSP Go! when they could just stick with their normal PSPs? BECAUSE THEY WANT AN UPGRADE. Is it an upgrade in graphics or controls? No. But it's still an upgrade, and if a person is willing to shell out money for a gussied-up PSP, they're willing to shell out roughly the same amount of money for a PSP2.
2) Sure, the PSP has 50 million people on it. How many more customers would Sony get if they released a PSP2, with a second nub? Seeing all the complaints about it, you and I should be able to agree that the number is significant.
3) Considering that the amount of time spent between the releases of the GBA SP and the DS seems to have been about a year, in a year this hopefully won't matter anyway, and we'll both be satisfied.
I still don't get this insesent need for a second nub, what games really need a second nub anyway? Name me 3 games that absolutely require two analog sticks, the only genre of games I can think of that needs two sticks would be a First-Person shooter and there are hardly any of those for the PSP anyway! Third person games, maybe, but that could easily be avoided with good camera programing.
Yes, there are hardly any FPS games for the PSP, and good camera programming can
sometimes serve as a substitute for the second stick. That doesn't mean that the PSP wouldn't benefit from having it though. Saying that the PSP doesn't need another stick is like saying ice cream doesn't need toppings to make it better. Sure, the ice cream is good, but how much better could it be?
So, you don't want to buy a PSP Go? Tough luck for you, you can't play new stuff. That's how handhelds work. I don't know if you've played any PSP games as of late (I could probably find that out in the previous posts, can't I?), but as far as I've played not a single game even remotely required two nubs for me. You don't like the fact that the Go is an upgrade, tough noogies, it's basically the same thing as a DSi. If you don't like it, shut up and wait, or just give up and get one. A PSP2 isn't coming in a while, I'd personally guess in 2 or so years, the PSP as itself is doing fine and as such wouldn't make any sense for Sony to suddenly make what would basically be a new handheld.
