For the older gamers (10+ years of gaming), what is your GOTD (game of the decade)?

Final Fantasy X?

Probably. Can't think of anything better. Not surprising considering it's my favourite game ever.

I'm lining up with the "Shadow of the Colossus" crowd.

The last decade has seen a plethora of excellent games, many of which I still play today. However, out of those games, there are very, very few which are also unique, which pushed the envelope in a way that made us think of gaming's innate potential of being something far beyond entertainment. Out of those, "Shadow of the Colossus" stands out as the best and brightest, and the recent HD re-release has showed me it's lost none of its impact.

Metroid Prime.

It attempted to do something different with the Metroid series and it worked incredibly well. Also, being a game that's nearly 10 years old now, the graphics are still amazing.

EDIT: also proved to me that a game can be a First-Person Shooter and still have a good-length and compelling single player mode and no multiplayer mode about killing millions of people.

Why the 10 years if I may ask? Out of sheer curiosity by the way.
Well, it wouldn't be a Game of the Decade otherwise, would it? :) And I felt the 'favorite game of all time' thing has been done to death. I wanted to add something to make it a bit more thought provoking and limited.
Even after 18 years of gaming I still don't bother to read quests...
WELL I GUESS THAT GAVE AWAY WHAT GAME I PLAYED FOR 6 YEARS x3
Yea. I noticed that, Blizzard at the start of World of Warcraft had theese really awesome questlogs. . . That was until they realized how little of the fanbase read the things, now the questlogs seem to literally read out "Hey dude, go kill ten of this monster because I have a firm dislike of its kind" They have shrunken in both size and quality. Only exceptions being the ones where you are stuck with an NPC.

Point is, you arent missing out. They dont really bother to write proper quests in MMO's.

game of decade?

Okami

Got the game play of Zelda and graphics that make you want to cry with happiness. The controls are spazzy at first but you soon get the hang of it.

Just a gorgeous and well made game. It's a shame it didn't get more recognition.

Baldur's Gate 2 is pretty damn perfect but just outside of the requirement.

I haven't actually played Shadow of the Colossus but I played ICO when it came out so I can believe that it's amazing.

I can't believe ff7 was 13 years ago :| I feel ancient...

I'm assuming you mean of this decade.
Well thats just to hard to pick for me.
KOTOR 1&2,FF9, FFX, and FFXII, ME1&2, Obliv, Fable, NFS Most Wanted, Baldur's Gate DA....So really most of my top 20 games of all time were made since 2000.

So Deus ex and Baldur's gate 2 miss the entry date by a year, it's got to be Half-life 2

Team Fortress 2. I have never put so many hours into a game before. And the game still manages to be as entertaining as hell. Definitely is my GOTD.

Rock Band

This is an easy question for me actually. Playing the drums gives me a great sense of satisfaction as I gradually improve and become more consistent over the years. It revitalized gaming with other friends and I've put more time into that game than any other ever made.

If we had an actual game of the decade award for all gaming. The clear winner would be WoW. I've only personally played 8 levels on a trial account, so I don't speak from personal experience with the product. Just from the impact the game has had on the market and the enormous fan base and culture it's established.

Tough one, for the 90s Oddworld Abe's Exoddus easily.
For 2000s it's between Timesplitters FP, Stronghold and Dark Messiah, I think Timesplitters just about wins.

I'm stuck between Wind Waker (because it was beautiful, had one of the best storylines/some of the best characters in the franchise, it was fun, etc) and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (because it's Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney).

I think I really need to play Shadow Of The Colossus, still haven't gotten around too it.
Reading briefly through everyone's lists, its good to see that we all have so many games in common.

My favourite game in the last 10 years is definitely Final Fantasy X
though not the best game made, it's just the game I had most fun with (and the longest)

honourable mentions are:
Portal (the best made game)
The Path (the best art game)
World of Warcraft (revolutionising MMO, didn't like the game have played it 6 months -.-)
Deus Ex : Human Revolution (interesting design and gameplay)

I would like to say Deus Ex, but it's a touch too early.

So in that case, I would nominate either Morrowind, Fallout 3 or Red Dead Redemption. Those games were masterpieces.

CAPTCHA: Our Partnr (I think I know which one is the anti-spammer's game of choice would be.)
