On Mars we can produce as much greenhouse gasses as we want whilst stripping it's resources, and it would actually create the same climate as on earth in say 4 decades. No need for eskimoes.

Speaking of witch, Inuit already lived on the ice for countless generations. Care to train them as astronauts? Too bad the not so cold resilient people will have to stay behind and not die in outerspace... Oh, wait.

I just had a theory on how we could force evoloution onto peopple that I though was actualy rather good.

It came to me as I was watching a programme about a man who trained in the cold to help him indure it better. I thought that if you got a group of people and put them and their offspring through the same training for generations they would eventually develop a natural resstance to the cold, which would be usefull for colonosation of other planets ( they would be rather cold places)

What if the planets were too hot? Where's your precious Science now?

I quess we would just repeat the process but for heat resistaces, screw the minor annoyance of slight heat I WANT TO MUTILATE GENERATIONS OF FAMILES IN THE NAME OF ODIN...I mean science.

I had this same theory for the removal of AIDS, just let everyone fuck for about 5-10 generations and eventually everyone has AIDS, then somewhere down the line their children will have natural immunity and once all of the non-immune die, the human race won't have that particular problem anymore.

Yeh, I herd that if u giv evry1 cancers then they al become immune or somthing. Cos instead of dieing a horible death ther kids get immunities and they pass it on to ther kids.

Or just wait for medical science to come along with a much less lethal method of curing the disease.

Evolution isn't necessarily over millions of years, but making humans that are 'cold resistant' wouldn't do much good--we have things called space heaters, sweaters, slippers, and, most importantly, fire. Yeah, you remember fire, right? That thing we discovered a few thousand years back, and have been comfortably using ever since? Yeeeeeeaahhh...And cold resistance in humans means a layer of fat, just like everything in nature that has to deal with extreme cold. Plants, reptiles, amphibians, mammals, fish, birds, and dinosaurs. If they live in the cold, they have a layer of fat.

That's not genetic modification, it's physical adaptation.

I will say it again, Evolution through Genetic Manipulation is what the future will hold. Ever see Gattaca? That is a good view of what is going to happen.

Training in a cold weather environment can help to raise cold resistance for an individual, but that trait wouldn't be passed on to his or her children simply because they trained in the cold. Learned or trained physical characteristics aren't passed on. The only way to make this function would be to find those who were most resistant to the cold (so, either pure survivalism/only the strongest survive, or put them through a series of tests) and only let the most resistant breed.

You can't breed characteristics in or out of a population without controlling who gets to have babies

It would solve our overpopulation problem and potentially cure AIDS, a theory I back-up with a group of prostitutes found in Africa who were AIDS immune, oddly enough.

I did believe that if cancer occours in most organisms, strillity is caused so as to stop it spreading.

We don't need to grow a layer a thick fur, or have smaller ears to keep in the heat. We adapt our environment to ourselves by lighting fires, making clothes and building houses and such.

Evolution takes so long that it would be pointless to force it on that level, it would be so much faster just to change fetuses genetics.

Doesn't take long sometimes, elephant tusks have got smaller because ones with big tusks got killed for them, thats a form of evolution and it happened quickly

We could advance the whole human race at the simple expense of a few generations, if that.
Of course, life being what it is, I doubt it would work out as planned and that few people who are not chemically induced into procreating would go along with it.
