im not sure what it's called, but it was a PS1, or maybe PS2? Game where you played as robot prisoners and had no legs, but were on a ball? And could race and fight each other, help me out?

You called?

At least they're named from the game, so it's "relevant"?
Hmm, I think it would be fun if someone made a montage video consisting of various acts of carnage from that particular game and accompanied it with a song by this band.
The damage system was amazing. I remember plonking 4 explosive arrows into a Purlin's chest and blowing a massive hole clear through it. Or mines cutting enemies off at the knees.

This...sounds a lot like a dream I had when I overdosed on cold medicine.

Die by the sword...wow, there's a game I haven't heard for a while. Only ever played the demo, and it was tough as balls.

One more for the list: Heretic 2 :).

Starlancer.

Freelancer was way too overhyped, Starlancer was the last great space combat sim.

Crash Bandicoot - It certainly seems like Naugthy Dog has forgotten about this franchise. Damn shame too.
Spyro the Dragon
not even just crash, what about Jak and Daxter? we got that pitiful excuse for a J&D game "Lost Frontier".....and the less said about it the better XP...... but since then.......nothin. the original 3 games though, definitely worth getting the collection. and 100% agreed about spyro, that game and series was amazing and continues to be so =) it's just a shame now that activision holds him we'll probably never see another good one X_X

lets see....gems from years of past for me......

bah, too hard to decide XD

On the one hand I'd say Tenchu and Tenchu 2. On the other, I haven't played those games in ages and I'm sure if I did now the horrid controls would make me murder whatever's in closest proximity. Still, I remember liking these games quite a lot back in the day. Especially that meloncholy samurai setting.

Also Dino Crisis 2. Thanks for that cliffhanger, you dick!

Emily Enough - An indie adventure game from 2005 where you play a psychotic little girl who, having just murdered her parents, is trying to escape a mental institution. The game has a delightfully twisted sense of humour and is quite short so it doesn't run on too long. Also it's free [http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/602/].

Armed and dangerous is a gem that needs to be polished off and given a remake. That game had a shark gun. A FUCKING SHARK GUN. THAT'S A GUN THAT SHOOTS SHARKS. Why is this weapon not put into every game ever made?

- Turok 2 (PC version). Hard as hell to find. Amazing graphics for the time, some of the coolest weapons ever conceived. Brilliant boss fights, incredible but different kind of shooter.

Anyone mentioned Oni yet? One of the best hand to hand third person action games I ever played.
This was exactly what came to mind when I saw the thread title! There have been great third person action games since Oni but I've never played one that simulated exciting martial arts fights quite as well. The combat variety and the weight of every movement was incredible in that game

I know you're trying to be optimistic here, and some of those new space games look good, but it took you 3 weeks after my post to respond. That means there's not many people that care enough about space games to call me out. That brings a tear to my eye.

Ehrgeiz: God bless the Ring.

A 3d fighter that includes FF7 characters. And a rogue like dungeon crawl mode where you level up one of two characters and upgrade their weapons. It creates random dungeons and your stat growth on leveling up is based on what foods you have eaten to keep your hunger bar filled.

Completely random and awesome when we first found it.

-The King of Dragon Pass-
There's not quite anything like it. It's turn-based civilization and strategy of a sort, but there is no real animation in the game. Instead, it's like an ongoing Viking-esque saga done as a story-book where your decisions determine the fate of your tribe.

Legend of the Dragoon: It had an epic story from start to finish and a combat system that is only in one other game. It also had one of the most memorable finishers/limit breaks in game the vagina singularity attack(not actual name btw). I still remember the story after all this time and that is only reserved for really good games.

Edit found a vid of it at around 1:10
Example of the combat system

For me it's Def Jam: fight for NY. I bought it when I was a kid because I thought it looked kind of cool. What I did not know, however, is that I am buying one of the best casual fighting games.
