As Notch is on record as saying Minecraft was a clone of Infiniminer I'm not sure he has anything to complain about.

It all depends on what your definition of cloning is. If you mean ripping off, then no, Infiniminer was canceled and the creator gave out the source code to everyone on the forums if I remember correctly. Notch just merely built upon that and made a game out of the code......... or still making to be precise.

Also I am EXTREMELY disappointed that I did NOT see a TF2/Minecraft crossover when I saw the title. EXTREMELY disappointed.

Really? FortressCraft? This would honestly pass as a semi-decent April Fools joke...

"Releasing a game that's similar to Minecraft on a new platform has its benefits."

NEW platform? If new means 6 years old...

That sure got ripped off quick.
At least it's a complete game.
Minecraft looks cool and everything but I have problems paying money for a beta. I remember back when you GOT paid to play a beta.
A complete game? its only chapter 1.

In Minecraft you pay once and the updates roll on in, from the very start of the game you have limitless possibilities but on the Indie version you have possibilities limited to only the 1st chapter.

I still think Minecraft is more worth playing than a simple console port that couldn't come up with something completely.

Does this mean Projector Games will win the next MM? :3

I'll certainly be voting for them.

So they plagiarized Notch's work without even giving him credit or at least a cut of the money? I think a lawsuit is due.

Whoa, a game ripping off another game, we've never seen that before.
Lets all hate Fotresscraft now.

How dare they base their game concept on something similar!

What!? How dare someone take MineCraft and make a direct copy of it. Notch shpuld be suing his ass all over the place! How could he be allowed to-

Oh, erm, right...

Seriously guys, grow up. MineCraft itself isn't an original idea aside from the 3D aspect, which can also be argued to not be original as the origins of the engine are from another game. FortressCraft was inspired by a similar game, Dwarf Fortress, and uses the coding from MineCraft as inspiration to ensure a smooth gameplay expeirence. All three games have similar goals (build stuff!) so it's no surprise that both MineCraft and FortressCraft look and feel similar when they take source code from the same source and have similar objectives.

And guess what? Plenty of games in the past have used similar engines and looks very similar because of it. Doom to Heretic to Duke Nukem 3D. Grats, three of the world's most iconic PC shooters are the exact same. Now cna we be a little more sensible and see that this is just growth towards a new genre of gaming and enjoy the two games for what they are?

Oh, there is a demo, good. I do want to try this, just to make sure its as fun as it looks. $3 is not that much, but it is money wasted if I end up removing it from my hardrive.
All XBL indie games have demos...It's like...the Microsoft law or something. And I'm very grateful for that law, too.

Actually no, Notch and Minecraft are credited in the...well, credits.
Notch also knows about this game, and it cant be sued, even if he wanted to.

don't forget wolfenstein 3d.

yeah, i dont get how people can still get all up in arms about their game being "ripped off". minecraft is more of a genre than it is a game in itself. someone taking the concept and building their own thing out of it should be no problem.
