So it's a finished version of mine craft that doesnt give you eyestrain and looks nice... Why are people playing Minecraft again?
It isn't finished, it is chapter 1, which has less features than Minecraft and will be expanded on in later chapters. Not meaning to defend or vilify here, just a pointing out of fact, both games are incomplete, they merely have different monetary systems in place.

I agree that this does look "prettier" than Minecraft but I tend to keep things fresh by fiddling round with different texture packs anyway.

Of course this game wasn't "inspired" by Minecraft, that's why it doesn't have "craft" right in its title...

But that's art for you, every time someone comes up with something truly original and unique, there will always be imitators. And that's OK, it's not like they'll hurt Minecraft's sales anyway.

What did you say? Videogames are not art? Well, let's not get started on that discussion...

While Minecraft is a boring pile of arse, it attracted a lot of people to the PC market, though mostly idiots. Maybe these people could have become interested in using PCs to play games, and developers would start taking more of an interest in the PC as a gaming platform.

Now with this knockoff pile of shit, it's no longer a PC exclusive. I'm sure soon the PS3 will have crafting with mines and the Wii will have some other knockoff with forced Wiimote swings.

Well that settles it I like money too so tomorrow I start working on PSN-craft, and to hold off the hate I'll say my inspiration was Tetris, it has blocks and all that.

I'll be rich, RICH I tell you!

Way to go "this is my opinion of a game and any one who disagrees must be an idiot."

i played the demo, and in the interest of bringing up a valid point, i wish it had plagiarised minecraft, because from where it is now, id refuse to pay for it at all. All of the things that made minecraft an addicting experience are nowhere to be found on fortresscraft (and those very things arent even up for consideration for future patches). There are no monsters at all so there is no sense of desperation or survival instinct, its buggy as people have previously stated, no health bars at all so no sense of care is required either. But the ONE thing that really annoys me about this is that, your character is an omnipotent god that can will anything they need into existence... that one factor alone ruined the entire thing for me; if theres no sense of effort in acquiring the tools necessary to begin and finish your pet project, then all sense of achievement is non-existant.

I think some people are defending the obvious sham ripoff because they prefer better graphics. Well, i submit this for your consideration.

As Notch is on record as saying Minecraft was a clone of Infiniminer I'm not sure he has anything to complain about.

If I had a nickle for every person who thought Minecraft was an original idea by Notch.... I'd have like $90,000.

I would have loved if he brought his game to XBL, but he didn't so I play FortressCraft instead.
I have to admit, I didn't know about Infiniminer, so I thought that Minecraft was fairly original. Despite this, I fail to see the problem with FortressCraft. The name may be a little too similar for comfort, but practically everything in existence rips something else off. Stories, art style, gameplay elements, pick something. It's very difficult to find anything that is completely original.

So they plagiarized Notch's work without even giving him credit or at least a cut of the money? I think a lawsuit is due.
Actually no, Notch and Minecraft are credited in the...well, credits.
Notch also knows about this game, and it cant be sued, even if he wanted to.
They are? What credits? Also why couldn't Notch sue the creator of FortressCraft? It's the same game. There's virtually nothing to distinguish FortressCraft from Minecraft.
Just type in "FortressCraft credits" on Youtube.

It cant be sued because they use completley different code, or something. Just research man.
The only way this is similar to Minecraft is building blocks, thats it.

It would be much fairer to judge this game when it's actually had time to expand.

*lo0oks at Minecraft, then to Dwarf Fortress, and then to fortressCRAFT*

So you claim you ripped of Dwarf fortress for a game where you play ONE person as they build whatever they damn well please, name it fortress craft, and then claim you did not rip off minecraft a game with block design, one person no minions, and unlimited construction?

You did not clone minecraft and its not derivative for Dwarf Fortress; this guy flat out ripped off minecraft for a quick buck and Miencraft development may have started in 2010 but Minecraft classic was around before then so when he picked his name he knew the risk, he knew what he was doing, and he is despicable for trying to pass if off as a dwarf fortress based game.
Dwarf Fortress is part of it, not now but in the future elements from Dwarf Fortress will be implemented, such as minions.

I did, thank you very much and continued with it to come top of my class at A level. You state your opinion "While Minecraft is a boring pile of arse" and qualified those with an interest in it "mostly idiots." The content of the rest of the post doesn't change this. You are entitled to your opinion, you are even entitled to the opinion that the majority of people attracted to the PC market through Minecraft are idiots, but you have to except that some would take offence at that.

I find the fact that since Notch isn't a 'Human Being' in many fanboy eyes, he cannot take a break, NO! He must work on updates all hours of the day.
Oh yeah, Fortress Craft is a Rip-Off but these would of come eventually.

Fortress Craft IS a rip-off. But what does Notch care? He made the money already and sounds pretty content with not stressing. I can admire that.

Debatable. They operate on the same principle, or so I see anyway.
No they don't, the former was suppose to be a online multiplayer game where people raced to collect as much ore and metals as possible while the other is a sandbox game. It is true that people figured it was more fun to just built shit instead, but that wasn't the type of game the actual developers were aiming to create. It did have a "free play mode" or something like that, but the overall design goals of the people who were trying to create Infiniminer and that of Notch's are entirely different, which is why the Infiniminer comparison is stupid and poorly thought through, and is thus typically whipped out people who take pleasure in shitting all over the (albeit, just as annoying) Minecraft fanboys.

Almost the only thing Infiniminer and Minecraft have in common is that they both allow you to place down blocks, almost everything else is different.
Not the game, the idea of being inspired by and ripping off. The only difference is the extent.
