Oh god, haven't these jokers ever heard of these books? Don't they read? The Lorax came out in the 70's.

Also, Studio Ghibli ISN'T EVEN HOLLYWOOD!! It's mudda fuggin Japan!

Fox News blows, I can't even believe that they agree with the things they say. I have Libertarian leanings and I hate all this Social Conservative whistle blowing and brouhaha. People need to just give up in the 'culture wars' and just accept diversity of opinion and not try to win every argument with "THINK OF THE CHILDREN!" and focus on real issues like our out of control debt crisis and unemployment. Get us out of the War on Terror and Drugs as well! Stop wetting your pants at every sign of a difference of opinion. To hell with Lou Dobbs and Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh.

What?

Seriously...

What?

The Lorax I can sorta understand.(Although I haven't actually read the book or seen the movie just some clips)

But Arrietty? That's probably the most removed from all this political bullshit I've seen in a movie presented on Fox News.

So yeah, we get it, Fox News are a bunch of idiots. How about we talk about The Secret World of Arrietty now? Anyone seen it? What did you think of it?

I thought it was a really good movie. Although I wasn't that surprised at how good it was considering it was made by the same studio that created Kiki's Delivery Service and Castle in the Sky. The other two Studio Ghilbi movies I have seen in my life.

I don't like the fact that they just had 4 rich old white men that all agree with each other as their panelists. They usually invite one person they disagree with to yell over. But this was all like "I need a break form all this propaganda" "As do I" "Ga faw, Ga faw, Ga faw"

OT: Fox News says something stupid? Wake me when this is actually news. Also, maybe the fact that Arriety is actually an adaptation of "The Borrowers" (an English novel series from the 50s) should be mentioned to Fox.
Edit: Ohh noticed, never went to second page you'd been corrected already. Just you misread something. Let me get rid of the nasty I wrote against you. All better. ^^

I saw this film last Saturday. It's awesome, I didn't notice to much it pushing environmental rights. More in support for women, that they can do anything if they try. Is Fox gona start going on how the film is saying this. Well maybe 40 years ago, kinda would be like shooting yourself in the face these days. Wait better plan, lets just ignore Fox News! Brilliant!

Here's my take on the environment: saving the environment has nothing to do with saving Bambi, and it has everything to do with saving US. If you don't have air to breath, you die. If you don't have water to drink, you die. If you don't have food to eat, you die. If you don't have shelter from the elements, you die. Life on this planet WILL continue on, just as it has done through a myriad disasters throughout the ages. However, we humans may not be the kind of life that is capable of living in the environment after the change happens.

In the same manner, alternative energy and green energies also have nothing to do with saving Bambi or even saving the environment. It's about saving our modern civilization. If there is no electricity to power our modern civilization, it dies. Coal, gas, oil, and even nuclear are finite and non-renewable. Once they run out(and they will run out, eventually), that's it, the end. Finding sufficient sustainable alternatives is necessary to maintain and advance our modern civilization.

The point of these efforts should not be focused on obtaining some ROI on the balance sheet, but should instead be focused on the sustainability of our modern society well into the future. That ROI on the balance sheet is completely meaningless if our entire modern civilization collapses.

I hate being fair to Fox even though I haven't seen Arrietty, but given most Ghibli fims, comments about blatent liberal agendas and environmentalism aren't surprising in the least. He'd probably lose his shit over Laputa, Nausicaa and Princess Mononoke.

Then again, I have to criticise them somehow and this is starting to go beyond the usual rounds of conservative hatred of opposing opinions. OMG a film demonizing the 1%. It just shows that no matter what happens in politcal landscape, they're so narsisitic they don't get why they're hated, and take to whining when a reminder comes up. I'm an asshole, but I don't go around moping about why no one likes me.

To be fair the whole animie scene started out by attempting to copy Disney, so it's just reached it's natural conclusion?

As for Fox, they need to go and soon.

What is next?

Is Fox news going to go after Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny?
Maybe Fox news is going to call Captain America unpatriotic

Or Fox News is going to accused them selves of being News
Thank you for that one Miss Piggy

Santa Claus is an illegal immigrant the breaks in to our homes and tells us what is best for our children. Doesn't seem like to far of a stretch for them.

BREAKING NEWS: This just in, it has been confirmed that yes, Fox are indeed still a bunch of cunts.
Back to you Ted.
Thankyou Bob

Well there you have it and it would appear that nobody is surprised. Indeed it is a trend that I don't think will be ending any time soon.
I'm told that repeated attempts to talk sense to these people has been made but despite valid arguments and reasoned debate their reaction has been to place their fingers in their ears and sing "Lalalalalalala"

I'm told we have some world wide perspective live via interwebs

Our European correspondent John has the report

One: What a fucking surprise.

Two: Creative works are allowed to have agendas. Funnily enough, so-called news shows should not.

Three: It's not the "so-called 1%", they are statistically the top 1%.

Why is it that though this kind of tripe doesn't suprise me coming out of fox news, it still horrifies me that anyone could say such things with a serious face?

Honestly I've been observing shit like this for years, and yet it still causes this shock of disbelief within me, I think that's my faith in humanity crying...

I'm amazed.
How are they even getting away with calling themselves a news show?
Their bias is not only obvious, they flaunt it with pride.
This shit isn't news.
It's propaganda.

As a Brit, can some Americans explain why being a liberal is as bad as **** punting an old woman? "Oh noes, this film says be nice to the enviroment PROTECT THE CHILDREN! BURN THE FILM!"

"Are you thinking of helping your fellow man Timmy?" "Yes, Pa." "That's the wrong thing to do son! You should stomp them into the dirt and climb to the top on their bodies!"
The right in this country is really good at redefining words and attaching labels, it is their primary means of attack. They managed to turn liberal and feminist into 4 letter words, really the whole man hatting women is mostly an invention of the right wing then anything that was actually happening at the time.

No worries. I saw the original quote in my inbox and was all, "Hey now, just chill there, Sora," but I have indeed been corrected. Someone quoted the distribution takeover by Disney as saying that Disney actually owned Ghibli now.
