Interested to see where this goes at the very least.
Huge fan of MacFarlane, although somehow I doubt he has anything to do with this.

I signed up for the beta, but this just sounds like a terrible idea. Oh well, it'll be fun for a laugh at any rate.

my worst family guy-related nightmare comes true! *shoots self*
but seriously..why? anyone so deeply in love with this series that they'd play an MMO based on it? REALLY?

because that'd be shameful for nerds everywhere.

Family Guy aficionados may recall that this is not the first time Fox's most recent attempt to recreate the success of The Simpsons has entered the virtual world.
Am I just stupid or is that line complete jibberish?

OT, this sounds bad. I honestly don't know how they're supposed to translate Family Guy into an MMO.
Translation (I think): Aficionados may recall that this Family Guy MMO is not the first time that Fox has tried to take Family Guy, (Which is Fox's most recent attempt to recreate the success of another popular animated show, The Simpsons) and turn it into a video game.

I think the fact that they are calling Family Guy a, "Recent" attempt to rip off The Simpsons is throwing people off, since the show originally started the decade before last.

Anyways, I want to reserve judgment. On one hand, I approve of most any attempt to experiment with new, untested mechanics in Gameplay. That provides a glimmer of possibility. On the other hand, I can't imagine even vaguely a way that this could be done right, and can imagine a nearly infinite number of ways that it could be done horribly, embarrassingly wrong. MMO is quite possibly the WORST possible genre for a Family Guy game. Is there a thousand Peters running around for some reason? Or do you make your own character and remove all the humor based around distinctive characters in controlled interactions, I.E., all the humor in Family Guy. Hell, I could understand a spin off, Family Guy RTS before I could see an MMO. If they manage to make something distinct then I say great for them, but I can't manage to scrounge up even a scrap of hope. Wish I could but it feels like I'm watching a grade schooler with legos trying to build a time machine.

It'll probably be like one of those shitty ass ones they show on TV. Except that they will probably try to charge a monthly subscription.

... What is this I don't even ... ?
How could you possibly get gameplay from Family Guy?
On second thoughts : I'd rather never find that out.

Then again, this is the same company that canceled Firefly, so they're not entirely unaccustomed to bad decisions.
Really...? You have to ask how?
The show has had random brawls, characters know kung-fu for whenever it's necessary, super powers, time travel, racing, gunplay, looting... you name it they had it for the most part. It's a wealth of potential craziness for an MMO.

Honestly though... I'm not too sure how well this will work it. In good hands, even the worst concept can make a great game (Tetris for instance), so its too early to make any judgment on this. The Simpsons even had its share of great and fun games so why not Family Guy?

The real question is WHAT kind of MMO will it be. If it's a serious attempt it could be good, but if its some Unity-powered Browser based casual affair aimed towards "adults" I doubt it'll have the power needed to get anywhere.
Who says tetris is a poor concept? As a puzzle game, it's a great concept.

I think this will fail miserably <.<

the line is a grammatical mess bro
That's what he meant
Umm...yes, that is what he meant, I did read what he wrote. And since it is a incomprehensible, grammatical mess, I took my best shot at translating the mess into something coherent.

I don't understand how you could make a game out of Family Guy. Would it be like that Simpsons beat 'em up game on a larger scale or something?

This seems like a terrible idea, MacFarlane.
Then again, America has a history of loving your terrible ideas.
